Mine were wavy and I asked at d3elivery of the car to replace them.
The dealer ordered new one and installed them. the new ones are wavy as well. |

I suspect it will be hit and miss.
Not sure why it has that ripple. I can see it being an annoyance, but in the grand scheme of things I really don't feel that a couple of trim pieces that are the same on every car is something to really get twisted up about.
To each his own I guess.
My comment about only $35 an hour was meant to be sarcasm.
You take a basically unskilled worker and hand them a power tool that only turns bolts one way, they sit on their keesters and install a part, tighten the bolts and never look at it again.
I used to have an equivalent job in a plastics factory.. and probably a lot harder since the working conditions were not very good. I worked my way up from $4 an hour to $7.25 an hour changing the tools in the presses. A very dangerous job that actually required brainpower and some physical prowise. (I got injured a lot!)
These persons of whom I speak are doing something you could train a monkey to do and getting paid hansomely, to do a crappy job at it.
They SEEM TO BE more worried about getting home to get their beer than they are about whether or not you get a properly assembled vehicle.
Consider that my opinion. | WOW! How do you come off making BS statements like this. I happen to have a friend who worked for GM assembling cars for 30 years and took great pride in his job. I find you comments insulting to say the least. I see you close with "Consider that my opinion", so be it, but I feel you are just talking through your ass. Consider that my opinion.
BTW my A posts are perfectly straight, I guess I didn't have a monkey work on my car. |

I just picked up my new 2008 CTS on Friday and have wavy A-pillar plastic trim on both sides. I didn't notice them during delivery, but did notice the problem within the first few miles of my drive home. I'm not going to rush to the dealer on it or anything, but I expect it to be fixed correctly. Unacceptable, considering my five year old Honda Accord also had fabric-covered A-pillar trim but it was perfectly straight and solid, yet that car had a $20,000 lower MSRP. Still, so far it's my biggest complaint, and that's not a huge deal if they can be fixed. |

There is a slight "wave" towards the bottom on both of my A pillars. Not a big deal at the moment (ie. bigger issues that need to be addressed). I'll just wait until GM releases a TSB that fixes the issue, which should hopefully be a newer and better quality part. Until then, don't see any reason to have it replaced with what is very likely going to be another cheap (and defective) part. |

My CTS was built in Nov 2007, and since then GM has sent defective replacements parts for each of three separate repair attempts. My Cadillac dealer has sorted through multiple pairs of A-pillar trim only to find and install the least-wavy, least-warped, and least-unacceptable pieces...whatta GM fiasco! |

Some interior trim suppliers are essentially bankrupt. It's possible that the supplier of this trim piece is one such supplier, and GM is focused on keeping them afloat. |

When I bought my previous car (2004 Honda Accord), the factory didn't connect the XM roof antenna, and it required two trips to the dealer to have them fix it. Both of those repairs involved pulling the headliner in a new car. I didn't really have any rattles as a result of it, but the center rear of the headliner sagged (the fabric didn't separate from the cardboard, at least) because the adhesive holding it up had worn out. |

The issue is a design problem that is being addressed between Gm and the supplier on a daily basis. The problem will be resolved soon. |

I'm surprised that it has taken this long--GM has known about this issue for about a year--but better late than never. Bureaucracy, manpower shortage, a question of who foots the bill? |
