The forums here need some sort of troll-ware program.
Or perhaps a BS Meter automatically displayed within suspect posts?

Since 1993 I've owned foreign cars from Lexus to Mercedes and just came off a lease on a M35, I've owned these cars because I felt American cars just couldn't compare in terms of quality and I guess that stilll holds true. I really fell in love with the CTS after reviewing the car and it's supposed to be the best Cadillac in 50 years I decided to take a chance on an American car. The foreign cars I've owned have had very few rattles and vibrations and interior noises if any and thats one of the main reasons I purchased foreign cars and never had any of my cars in the shop for any reason other than an oil change. Since owning my loaded CTS w/DI and F2 AWD I've had it in the dealer four time for noises in the rear end, my drivers seat came apart in the back, my drivers door wouldn't unlock and I had to enter from the back door, and rattling noises from my sunroof. I want to love this car but I just can't see myself buying another American car. | Your drivers' door wouldn't unlock because the car doesn't like you. That CTS, along with this community, would rather you go buy an extremely reliable Mercedes. (I almost spit out my rum typing that...reliable Mercedes...thats like saying 'i have an enjoyable STD'...) |

"I have to admit I'm shocked at all of the problems people are having with their new CTS's ."
This might be a post with a legit squawk list but blasting the whole fleet and the rant for Euro's along with the lack of mass quality control issues on the new CTS leaves me a bit puzzled.

We can all argue until we are blue in the face. I tend to think there are some common issues/problems. There is huge pressure to produce this new model when plant capacity is maxed and, as a result, quality is suffering at the moment. The more pressure to crank these out, the more pressure on the suppliers and supplier quality may be suffering. Also, the fact that the car is completely revamped from the ground up and is in the first year of production is, by default, a big reason why the car is going to have some initial issues that need to be worked out
I think the telling tale will be when the Initial Quality Reports start coming out. Only then will the poor initial quality argument have any true hard evidence. Only time will tell the story here. |

PS. My '08 DI CTS4 now has 3500 miles on the odometer. There was an AWD transfer case vibration (grounding) issue when I first received my car. That was easily fixed by the dealer, and since then the car has been terrific - no issues at all, quality or otherwise.

No squeaks, rattles or build quality issues. The diff is one thing but my dealer has been fantastic. The rest of the drivetrain is great...

One would expect some things to be worked out. I've owned foreign and american. If you compare lower cost small 4 cyls and 6 cyls Japan does beat American made IMO. But if you look at cars in 6 to 8 cyl and compare apples to apples and cost to cost the performance is very similar. |
