Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

Remove this ad
So last night, I came out of a work event and saw that it had snowed a bit. I got in and turned on the windshield wipers and heard the dreaded scccrunnnnnch of ice which usually means that I have to get the Johnston and Murphys wet and snowy. Then I remembered about the heated washer fluid. I hit the button, the DIC showed "Heated Fluid Wipes Pending" or something like that. After about 15 seconds, it automatically sprayed and wiped in 4 separate sets, and worked wonderfully. What a great feature.

I do wonder how many "less informed" people hit that button when trying to turn on their defroster and get the windshield wipers going...must be quite a surprise haha...

Re: Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

I got to use the heated washer fluid last week in an ice storm. This car is a tech wonder.

Re: Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

Yeah, the heated windshield washer fluid is a "Why didn't anyone think of this before" type of feature. We have had WINTER big-time this year in Iowa; the heated fluid and AWD has really been impressive.

Heh...yeah, happened to me once when I first got the car - was like the second day I had it. I was driving home in very heavy traffic and didn't realize I had punched that button instead of rear defrost. I didn't notice the DIC message about heating the fluid so I had no clue what was going on. It kept spraying and the wipers just kept going...I finally realized what button I hit - but didn't think right away to stop hitting it. After a confusing minute of multiple wiper cycles, I stopped hitting the button and breathed a sigh of relief. Whew!

Re: Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

Related question - how much washer fluid does this thing hold? between the windshield washers (using them constantly here in salt-land), the headlight washers, and this "de-icing" function, I go thru a lot. I just poured an entire gallon in and didn't fill it up.
just curious.

Press it again. The DIC display should read "Heated Washer Fluid System Off" or something like that.

Re: Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

I know this is an old thread but I was curious which button you press to turn on the heated washer fluid. Is it on the center stack or on the dash somewhere? Does anyone have a picture?

With all of the other decisions to make about what and when to buy you'd think something like this doesn't matter but curiousity got the best of me

Thanks in advance!

Jay

Re: Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

It's on the center stack, by the rear defrost button.

LOL yeah this happened to me at first I was like "what the hell...i pushed defrost, why did this come on 15 seconds after I pushed the defrost button?!" It kept periodically going on after it would reheat I assume, but I figured it out after the second set. Too bad I live in Southern California where this feature will never be of use to me unless I go into the mountains or something.

Re: Heated Washer Fluid-It works!

Living here in Tampa I think that mid-summer on a nice steamy day when I hit the washer fluid heater button it actually has to cool the washer fluid to reach the programmed temperature!

Just kidding of course, but I do notice the warm fluid does a better job or removing splattered bugs...
