Anyone else notice Brakes over braking after a cold start?

Might just be my over sensitive nature but I've noticed that the first time I apply the brakes after a cold start, the brakes are way over-boosted for the very first brake application.

The car is an AWD DI engine and I doubt that makes a difference but just curious to see if others notice the same thing.

rwd, non-DI......i have noticed it on occasion

RWD, non-DI, manual... I notice the same thing... everytime... and they squeak during the first couple presses of the pedal...

I have AWD, DFI; no, brakes seem normal to me, but they do squeak at first when backing out of the garage.

RWD DI FE2 Auto = No. All normal. No squeak.

Intake manifold vacuum is higher than normal 'cause the choke is on when it's cold.

Sounds right. This happens on almost any car. Happens on my Town Car all the time...

My cts has been a bomb. the brakes are overboosted in the a.m. after the car is warm the brakes stop working when applied. no check engine lights,no abs light ,no warning just no brake. after pumping they reapear. happened twice in the last month. since it doesn't happen consistently they can't find the problem. can't find it can't fix it. I'm the new g.m. crash dummy. anyone else having brake issues ? any ideas ?

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I've never heard anyone make that particular complaint before and on this forum we pretty much see all the complaints that exist in the universe for the 2008 CTS. Did the dealer tell you what they checked? I'm wondering if there is some kind of leak in the brake system, although I'm far from an expert on those matters.

Sounds like a dangerous problem to have - if you aren't satisfied for what your dealer is doing for you, either take it to another dealer for service or escalate the situation by contacting Cadillac/GM directly.

My Radiant Bronze CTS finally arrived yesterday. Ordered Nov. 2 - arrived Feb. 14. Nice Valentine's Day present. I got all the bells and whistles, i.e. PDQ. WOW, what a fabulous car. Having waited over 3 months, I had forgotten how much I like the ride and experience of this car. I'm gonna have to sleep sometime, but not anytime soon. Excellent! BTW, the Radiant Bronze can no longer be ordered so we have among the rarest of the CTS's. I like the color now more than when I ordered it. Dark enuf to really shine, light enuf to not show dirt, unique enuf to not see your car everywhere you look.

I get a "morning squeal" from my brakes, but generally the braking is good. My CTS is Radiant Bronze and I am liking it more every day. Good choice and congrats on yours.

Yes! I definitely notice this, especially when I back out of my parking space at work and come to my first stop. I keep thinking I'm just not used to these new brakes, but after the first or second application, all is normal. I have non-DI, RWD, FE2.
