Gear Indicator lit at night?

I just picked up my CTS and drove it at night. I was surprised that the gear indicator (P,R, N,D) next to the shift knob, was not lit up at night. Is that right?

Yes but the dash shows what gear you are in. I think there was an earlier post on this subject. I think that the reasoning was that it is safer to look on the dash as opposed to looking down to where the shift knob is.

Thanks for the reply regarding the gear indicator light. This is one of those cars that the more I drive it, the more impressed I am.

Don't forget to check out the L.E.D. directly above the PRNDL where the interior lights are.
That illuminates the center console.
