Re: well this sucks

That'll buff out, but I think you'll get a whistling noise from the sunroof on the highway. Man that sucks, glad everyone is okay.

Re: well this sucks

blue07cts, that's too bad. The important thing is that no one was hurt. A car is basically an appliance, and they make thousands of them a day.
I would push for the vehicle to be proclaimed a "total"... and then arrange for a new CTS to come your way.
Hopefully all will work out to your satisfaction. Good luck.

Re: well this sucks

I think the "Dent Doctor" can fix that for a few hundred bucks. Might need a new windshield though. I don't think they can repair that with the epoxy injection.
Good that everyones Okay.

Re: well this sucks

When I was in an accident and the insurance company was trying to decide whether or not to total the car, the guy at the repair shop told me to make it perfectly clear to the insurance adjuster that I wanted the car totaled. So, I that's what I did. I also added that if the repair wasn't perfect I would be picky as he** before accepting the car. In the end, they totalled the car. I think that the extra cost of tweaking the repair over and over is enough for the insurance company to decide to total it if the difference is small enough.

I'm glad you made it out okay, man. Do you have the insurance to get this fixed or replaced?

Re: well this sucks

How can a car roll upside down and then:
1. Not have the sunroof crack
2. Have all the doors open just fine

This seems like a crazy feat of engineering - is it just me, or were the cars of 10 years ago not built this way?

Re: well this sucks

Cars ten years ago weren't built this way. Those this size also didn't weigh two tons.

My first cars were GM front-drivers, which were notoriously prone to spin if you hit the brakes and turned at the same time. So I learned to avoid that practice early on. Never a good idea if it can be avoided.

And if it can't be avoided--that's where Stabilitrak becomes very nice to have. I had one scary moment in my father's RX-8. Going along an unfamiliar road, I did my usual thing of slightly accelerating through the turns--only there were a series of three or four tight together. So I hit the last one going much faster than I wanted to be. Had to get on the brakes, and the stability control in that car saved my a$$.

Re: well this sucks

Sucks man, but if i were you i would definitley not want it back after all that. You will really be hearing creaks and groans and all kinds of wind noise after a crash such as that. F&*^% IT!! Get the cts -V!!

Re: well this sucks

Thanks for participating in the first real life roof crush test that I know of on the 08 CTS.
I passed your pics to upper structure engineering. They were very excited to see the pics,
and seemed very pleased with the integrity of the roof, and were happy you two were OK.
Unfortunately, it was at your expense.
We already have enough data on the 50MPH front barrier test, so please, no participants are needed.
