A car is basically an appliance, and they make thousands of them a day.
I would push for the vehicle to be proclaimed a "total"... and then arrange for a new CTS to come your way.
Hopefully all will work out to your satisfaction. Good luck. |

Good that everyones Okay.

So, I that's what I did. I also added that if the repair wasn't perfect I would be picky as he** before accepting the car. In the end, they totalled the car. I think that the extra cost of tweaking the repair over and over is enough for the insurance company to decide to total it if the difference is small enough. |

1. Not have the sunroof crack
2. Have all the doors open just fine
This seems like a crazy feat of engineering - is it just me, or were the cars of 10 years ago not built this way? |

My first cars were GM front-drivers, which were notoriously prone to spin if you hit the brakes and turned at the same time. So I learned to avoid that practice early on. Never a good idea if it can be avoided.
And if it can't be avoided--that's where Stabilitrak becomes very nice to have. I had one scary moment in my father's RX-8. Going along an unfamiliar road, I did my usual thing of slightly accelerating through the turns--only there were a series of three or four tight together. So I hit the last one going much faster than I wanted to be. Had to get on the brakes, and the stability control in that car saved my a$$. |

I passed your pics to upper structure engineering. They were very excited to see the pics,
and seemed very pleased with the integrity of the roof, and were happy you two were OK.
Unfortunately, it was at your expense.
We already have enough data on the 50MPH front barrier test, so please, no participants are needed. |
