Heated Washer Fluid Question

Remove this ad
I had a question for those of you with heated washer fluid.
The system automatically sprays when the fluid is hot. As I understand it, this happens even while driving.
Does anyone have safety concerns with this automated spray while driving?
Any use stories while driving?

Re: Heated Washer Fluid Question

No, you just turn it off when you are done with it

...and IIRC it'll turn itself off after 4 squirt/wipe cycles, even if you don't turn it off manually...

Re: Heated Washer Fluid Question

Yeah, I understand it shuts off automatically but you could use it while driving. I guess my concern is that I'd turn it on while driving and when the spray comes out ~45 sec later, it could impair my forward view at an inopportune time.

Then just use the regular non-heated spray.

I've used it when it was below 10* and my vision was not impared. It actually works great to deice a windshield when the car has been parked overnight. I ususally deactivate the system after two squirts rather than let it go a full cycle.

Re: Heated Washer Fluid Question

Just used it at 80mph on the highway this morning @ 0 deg F. I deactivated it after the first cycle. No visibility problems (the wipers activate immediately after/during the squirt).

Re: Heated Washer Fluid Question

A very cool and useful option if you live anywhere where you get ice and snow. Only needed it a few times but it's great. Every car should have it.
