This feature required the unit's ground wire be connected to the parking brake switch. By simply taking that wire and grounding it directly to the chassis the DVD playback worked without having to use the parking brake. This is a common fix to many but not all DVD units. I have no idea if it is possible with the CTS though. |

I realize this is somewhat technical. I tell you what I will see if there is a company out there that can mod one of there existing devices for any easy (but likely pricey) add on. |

However there is for sure memory locations that may be able to be re-calibrated.
The trouble is I have know idea which address needs to be modified and it will probably require a user to have security access to change it.
The mod above will work however.. but you need hardware. |

The trouble is I have know idea which address needs to be modified and it will probably require a user to have security access to change it. | I thought Windows Automotive was a WinCE .NET based app, so I figured they'd have a registry and/or config files, but that's just speculation on my part.
From the software side, we're all just bumbling around in the dark as we guess at how to (1) access the system and (2) modify settings. I'm sure whoever worked on it at GM or MS is getting a chuckle out of this, if they read this forum. |

Newer units were cracked because the GM LAN system was cracked and companies like coastalEtech found ways to filter which commands were sent to the radios GM LAN connection to not allow the radio to see the out of park command. To make things worse the GPS units started using VSS to also cut out video if it sensed the vehicle moving over 8 MPH.. After all this was done some units added a third safefy feature where even if the GM Lan signal was bypassed and you cut the VSS signal the GPS unit would now look at the GPS Antenna to see if you are moving.
Hate to say it but look at the STS... Out since 2005 and there has been no solid fix until just recently... This will be no simple little cut a wire fix... VSS, GPS Antenna and the newer communication system needs to be hacked. |

But it was so simple, it must've been designed like that. If there is a reason for such a cheat, there must be some simple cheat for any system, right?
Can the first source of the leak be traced? We might get answers there... |

Maybe you can call them and ask if they can make one for the CTS? The item is called a "lock pick" http://www.coastaletech.com/ | Thanks for the info and the link. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
