After 2 1/2 days of realigning the door and playing with the weatherstripping, now they tell me it is the sunroof that is out of alignment. They adjust it, take it for a ride and it comes undone. I am freaking out! Anybody else have a problem like this? |

They seem to have repaired it, they adjusted it the first time and it still was noisy.
They said on the ticket Sunroof not adjusted properly, (they are the ones that adjusted it the first time). I also have a vibration, they road forced balaced the wheels but it is still not right... guess it will go back in. This gets old when they dont repair it the first time. Good luck with yours. |

But since you asked, let's check out the latest J. D. Power 2007 Quality Ratings by Brand: http://www.jdpower.com/autos/ratings...tings-by-brand.
It's arguably more objective than any online forum, including this one. Please note that a total of nine, including four "rice burner" brands, surpassed Cadillac's mediocre "about average" rating: Honda Infiniti Jaguar Lexus Lincoln Mercedes Benz Mercury Porsche Toyota
So perhaps that's why "people always say..." |

So perhaps that's why "people always say..." | In all fairness, there are plenty of other Japanese brands in the "about average" or "the rest" categories (Subaru, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Scion - a Toyota subbrand, Mazda, etc.). Also, in the JD Power Dependability Ratings, only the following makes received the top rating: Buick, Cadillac, Mercury, Honda, & Lexus.
YMMV, but I try to dig a little deeper with individual vehicles. For example, I admit to a pro-Lexus bias when it comes to quality and reliability. However, the Consumer Reports data on the AWD version of the GS (that I considered when I was looking at the CTS4) is not so good; the RWD version did great. First months of production on a redesigned model from anyone is a bit risky. Even the first year of production will likely have worse numbers than subsequent years. There are some larger trends (Toyota and Lexus near the top, Land Rover dead last), but other makes have been all over the quality spectrum (MB, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar).
Personally, my worst ownership experience has been with a Subaru, but most Subaru owners swear by 'em. |

Toyota’s New Management Initiative Promises Top-Down Shakeup
By Marty Jerome June 28, 2007 | 6:01:00 AMCategories: Business
You’d think Toyota would be sitting pretty, having overtaken GM only two months ago as the world’s biggest automaker. Yet recalls have tripled in the past three years and the Toyota brand has slipped in J.D. Power & Associates study of quality. Dealerships continue to score poorly in customer satisfaction surveys. And Toyota’s most loyal customer base is aging—which is exactly what happened to Buick and Oldsmobile. So management is planning an overhaul—an initiative dubbed EM2—or everything matters exponentially. It will entail a reexamination of everything from product planning to customer service and marketing—even the dealerships that Toyota doesn’t own will come under scrutiny.

What is not captured in the J.D. Power survey is the driving experience, which to me is as important as the quality of the vehicle. In my opinion there are few cars on the road that are as boring to drive as a Toyota - regardless of the model. |

The idea of a hybrid SUV that could seat 7 people appealed to me, but try to find a review of the Highlander that doesn't use the word "bland" or "boring" to describe the interior or the exterior. If they don't find a designer with some energy soon, they're going to slide into the demographic that Cadillac and Buick are trying to escape. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
