A few months back, I had a 2007 STS as a rental car. I had always wanted a Cadi, but I was not sure which one. When I drove that STS, I thought that was the car for me....until I drove the '08 CTS. Not even considering the cost difference, I thought the CTS was a much nicer car with the new interior redesign. The performance of the CTS DI engine seemed as good, or better than the STS.
In my opinion, I think the CTS is a better car, even if they were the same price. That's not to say I won't trade to an STS if and when Cadi comes out with an updated design for the STS.
I've seen that the interior dimensions are similiar, but the STS did feel larger inside to me. |

National Car rental has rented Cadillacs for years. I have used them several times. Can't speak to STS specifically..........But a phone call could clear that up. Call National at the Airport (on the weekend) and see what they have......... |

Second, you can't compare the interior layout and design of the STS to the CTS. The STS looks like a plastic "cheap" car on the inside. The CTS looks Polished. I do like the looks of the STS on the exterior, but I also like the looks of the CTS.
Personally, CTS is the first Caddy I've seen that actually got the interior correct. I wouldn't buy a STS if they offered to sell it to me for 30k.
The STS is going to be dead soon anyway... the CTS will take it's place as the midsized car in the Caddy lineup, IMHO. | Have you looked at the interior of an '08 STS? It has been significantly upgraded. |

Bathel- I couldn't agree with you more, and I was waiting for someone to say this! I do like the STS, but feel that the interior falls short on a $50K + luxury car...kind of cheap. The CTS has a far superior cabin, which prompted me to buy my first American car in years. In fact my brother-in-law's new BMW 535xi interior ($63k) is not as well-done, even at his confession! |

If you want to be "current" with your long-term purchase, which she did, the CTS is more current.
That said, I am surprised a little at some of the (very) minor bells and whistles I have on my 01 DTS that are not in her fully loaded 08 CTS (custom exit positions, auto seat position based on fob, rear seat heaters, tiltdown mirror that works as described). I have seen discussions on some of these, and understand them to some extent, but was just a little surprised. |

The interior blows the STS away and the 18" wheels are icing on the cake. Now I don't have a V8 to compare it to but that's my opinion on the V6, It is also 3 years newer so really not a fair comparo.
Have you seen the new Lincoln MKS? That's a real good looking car. |

Unless they changed the engine in the newest Lincoln, I think the horsepower is considerably lower than the CTS. I liked the Lincoln when I saw the concept car, but was less impressed with the actual car when I saw it at the auto show. |

The MKS is coming out this summer with a 3.7L V6 rated at 270 HP and 265 lb/ft of torque with a weight of about 4200 lbs. Other that that, it looks like a great car and will be on my list to consider in 2010. (along with CTS, STS, DTS, and Lucerne) |

Originally Posted by MoFex Yes, but it is AWD with primary driving wheels being front.....and it makes a difference. | I have an 07 AWD MKZ and can attest that it does make a difference. The car is very well planted with no tendency to swing out the rear end (as some Cadillac AWD owners have reported) and the traction control is much more subtle than on my SRX. However, the MKZ also drives more like a Town Car, with a huuuge turning radius and isolated road feel, rather than anything at all sporty. (Unfortunately, just the way my wife likes to be driven around.) I had an owner of a new Mazda 6 (same platform as the MKZ) take a turn behind the wheel of my MKZ and his impression was that the handling was "ponderous".
The only other complaint I have about my MKZ is that too much of it feels like it's lesser siblings (6, Fusion, Milan) - from the interior components, to the sound of the doors, to the method of assembly. (Look at the rear wheel wells of a MKZ sometime.) The cars built on the Cadillac Sigma platform feel and sound like luxury cars.

Don't want to turn this into a Lincoln thread, but I have a '06 Zephyr which is actually a very nice riding car so I will probably move to the MKS in the summer. You can build them on Lincoln's site and 20" wheels are an option. Mine would come to $40k with Nav. It looks stunning with the 20" wheels.... http://www.lincoln.com/reachhigher/ | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
