Buyer beware when ordering accessories from gmaccessoriesstore

Remove this ad
In order to save a about $20 bucks, I recently ordered all-weather floor mats from http://www.gmaccessoriesstore.com, an authorized dealer out of Ohio. Big mistake. When my order arrived yesterday, I was surprised to find that the mats did not fit my car. After all, I knew I ordered the right ones for the '08. I even double checked my order before calling. After doing some online research, I found out that GM sells different mats for the AWD and RWD versions of the car. I have RWD and received mats for AWD. The problem is that this site makes no distinction between the two. In fact, you cannot find any mention of AWD on the product description. When I called their 800 number today, the woman (Missy) I spoke with informed me that they would except the return, but I would have to pay return shipping and a 10% restocking fee. What? You are going to make me incur additional costs because your site doesn't have sufficient information about the product--I am not psychic. So, I am disputing the charge with AMEX and will never order from this company again. As a business owner, I continue to be shocked at the number of companies willing to lose a customer over a minor customer service issue.

Re: Buyer beware when ordering accessories from gmaccessoriesstore

Black08CTS, I followed your link and found two different sets of "Front Premium All-Weather Floor Mats," one for AWD [or MX7 transmission 6-speed automatic for AWD] and the other for RWD [or MXO transmission 6-speed automatic]:

item description "with rpo code MX7"
http://gmaccessoriesstore.com/front-...th=388_549_550

item description "with rpo code MXO"
http://gmaccessoriesstore.com/front-...th=388_549_550

I can understand how each party might feel that the other is at fault. Hope that you find a mutually satisfactory resolution.

Re: Buyer beware when ordering accessories from gmaccessoriesstore

It seems the site, in order to avoid confusion, clearly listed the RPO code applicable to the particular mat configuration. I guess they could have stated RWD or AWD but then someone else would complain about that designation.

regardless of the mixup, the customer is always right! I agree with black08cts, they should have apologized for the inconvenience and picked up all charges.
I would think they would have expedited his order too. I would be upset and not in the mood to put up an EBAY post. It is additional work.

Sounds good but most internet discounters, with thin margins and added shipping costs, simply cannot afford the same level of customer service as traditional full-price retailers.

So, borrowing from the OP title, I'd say "buyer beware when ordering" from ANY online discounter. If you don't fully understand the item description, then ask questions and get answers BEFORE placing your order ... that's today's reality.

Escalate the call to a supervisor. If you take a professional approach, they might help you.

how can you broad brush GM in this issue..since this is a parts department of a independent dealer....GM isnt at fault here......I have had great success with GMpartsdirect...which is a parts department in a dealership in NC..what I have start doing now..is taking their prices to my local dealership to see if they will match them......so far they have matched them.....and I get the part handed to me...or ordered..and I dont pay the shipping charge now.....
