For those of you who wondered about this vibration issue. I hope you can resolve the issues if you are experiencing vibrations. I had nothing but hearache about this whole problem. The dealer could care less along with GM. I will NEVER purchase a General Motors product ever. This was my first time to buy American. Never again. Also, for those of you wondering what type or resale this new 08 CTS will have..................It's bad. Typical GM

Re: Sold My New Cts Back To The Dealer. Still Major Vibration Issue.

I'm tired of hearing about this vibration thing...one more time...WHERE IS THE VIBRATION. I'm picking mine up next week and now I want to make sure before I get it about the vibration thing. Please tell me what I should be looking for. If you're going to post such a negative thing, at least make it helpful. Thank you.

Re: Sold My New Cts Back To The Dealer. Still Major Vibration Issue.

In another thread I read there was a vibration in the steering wheel at >58mph. Now what I'd like to know is AWD or RWD? Engine, base or DI? Suspension FE1, FE2, or FE3? Wheels P61, P62, P75, or P63?

Thanks.

Keep in mind the story about the princess and the pea under the mattresses. It would be typical of somebody with buyers remorse to claim a defect not detectable by anyone else. Psychosomatic?

There's been plenty of information on the vibration issue in the forum. Look for a pronounced shake/vibration felt in the steering wheel, shifter, and seat. It seems to occur at between 60 and 75 mph.

In my case, I've got the FE3, RWD, DI. I have 20" z-rated tires.

I can tell you that I have the vibration issue, and I definitely do NOT have buyer's remorse. I LOVE the car. The vibration bothers my wife much more than it does me. She's a big Lexus fan. I'm much more of a bull in a china shop than a princess with a pea. I might not have paid any attention to it if she hadn't pointed it out. It exists, though. No question.

Re: Sold My New Cts Back To The Dealer. Still Major Vibration Issue.

hmmm...I'm going to pick the car up on Wednesday..so I should definitely take it out for a long spin before, right? I know me, and a shaking will drive me crazy. I asked my salesguy to test it on the freeway, and, of course, he says everything is great. I wonder if this is something that has been corrected in the new builds. OY. Notverynice: How long have you had your car??

You can't say shifter. The shifter vibrates as per the design, that is completely normal.

Re: Sold My New Cts Back To The Dealer. Still Major Vibration Issue.

I can't speak but for the two extended Test drives I've done. The dealer let me borrow the car for an hour and I took it out on the interstate to test just this thing after reading about it here. I noticed nothing that seemed abnormal.

Keep in mind, I have a 325i BMW right now and even it has a slight vibration in wheel and seat at 70 mph from the road feedback BMW puts in the car. I didn't notice anything differnent in the CTS other than it seemed to have less feedback than the BMW.

I'll be getting my CTS in a few weeks, so I'll keep an eye on it, but I don't expect to have any issues. This will be my first American car in 15 years. I buy a new car about every 2 to 3 years for work. Nissan/Infiniti, Lexus/Toyota and BMW have all been great cars in fit, finish and ride. I'm hoping the CTS can hold up to these imports. It's the first American car that has "spoken" to me in the interior finish part. Congrats to the designers and Engineers for that, although there are some area they need improvement (go drive a BMW manumatic see what it's supposed to feel like. To put the car in manumatic mode should be a move toward the driver and not away from the driver, eventhough it doesn't make logical sense, the upshift should be a backward motion as it just feels more natural to a manual, and finally the actual shift motion needs to be shorter).

The only other real complaint I have is having the skylight shade lined so it blocks the sun instead of filtering it. I understand they can't do a hard shade as it has no room to move back, but they could have lined the fabric withsomething to block the sun and still keep it able to be rolled up. If I can do it on fabric curtains in my bedroom, I'm sure GM can figure out how to do it on the sunshade.

Re: Sold My New Cts Back To The Dealer. Still Major Vibration Issue.

I've been following the vibration threads for a while now. FWIW, I've driven mine at all the speeds listed and the steering wheel, shifter, etc are all rock solid. I own a DI, auto with the FE3 package. Having said this, I think it's all a matter of perspective. There absolutely WILL be a few lemons out there, but the large majority of cars will be fine. What we're all reading is one or two threads in a couple of forums for Cadillac enthusiasts buried somewhere out in the Internet. These are the places where this kind of stuff shows up because the people who frequent these sites are passionate - one way or the other. I used to follow the audi forums and you should hear them complain. The turbos on the B5 S4 were a constant source of grief. When they worked, as they did for the large majority of owners, they were great. But for the few in which they failed, the complaints on the forums were deafening. We're all free to exercise our first amendment right. Please do! Having said this, please refrain from the sensational thead titles. I get enough sensationalism from CNN, FoxNews and the like. IMO, the 3.6 DI engine does not have a SERIOUS design flaw just like the bi-turbo audi engine did not have a serious design flaw due to a few turbo failures. I have donned my flame-proof suit, so have at it. Note - I am in no way peaved, ticked, angry, etc. I just want some level-headed feedback, good or bad, about the CTS.
