Maybe they made those workers you saw come in on Christmas day to build my car.
Obviously this is one man's experience, but thus far I am underwhelmed by the initial quality of this car. I paid new car price for used car quality so far. Hopefully the next 3000 miles will be better. | Bummer, scout. Good luck on the next 3k miles. |

Sorry to hear about the problems, and hope they get them fixed.

Sorry to hear about the problems, and hope they get them fixed. | Forgive me, but how is poor fit/finish on the center console and radio stack a supplier issue? Seems to me that goes back to the people who slapped the car together. |

Maybe the managers who accepted the messed up quality products are the ones to blame but not necessarily those who assembled the car...
it comes down to initial design and supplier acceptance process... |

Second trip, the dealer provide a full "road force" balance. He also was able to see the issue first hand so there was no doubt about the problem. The RFB didn't totally solve the problem so he swapped both front wheel/tire assemblies with two previously RFB takeoffs.
I'm holding my breath but after several runs up and down the highway over several days the problem appears to be fixed... Time will tell.
At least at this point I'm satisfied and very pleased with the dealer's efforts. Obviously this isn't a dealer issue and Cadillac doesn't "appear" to be giving any assistance, so hat's off to the the dealers who persist and prevail. | WOW!!! After reading all these posts for the last 6 months, never, I say NEVER, would I have thought that a simple rebalancing would do the trick. I let my 08 FE2 go for 12K miles before finally taking it to the dealership to address the shimmying I got (intermittently) at 60 mph. All I said was there was quite a problem w/08 CTS owners with this vibration problem. I left it at that. They called saying my car was ready. When I spoke to the technician, he told me that 2 of my wheels were seriously out of balance and, lo and behold, I can't get the darned car to vibrate any longer...at any speed....for several days now! I thought I was doomed as many of y'all feel...but, at least for me, a professional balancing seems to have done the trick! Man am I PLEASED!!!!
OK, so I'm still having probs with my sunroof which seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to closing...but, for now, I'll put up with holding my finger on the button to close it while I celebrate my SMOOTH RIDE for the first time in 8 months!!!
Hang in there guys! Whether it's a simpler fix, or you need GM intervention...or Lemon Law/attorney help, I wish you all resolution. As for me, I'm one happy CTS owner! |

That's what I did with my dealership - print out every post here concerning the steering vibration problem. It was a huge stack & it was great ammunition. The dealership was not aware so many folks were dealing with the same issue and they also had NO hesitation in buying my car back and letting me pick another one. |

Just checking in to give you guys an update on my situation. It has been two months since I last posted in regards to the steering wheel vibration. After GM denied a replacement vehicle, I contacted a lawyer to pursue the Lemon Law. Luckily, the whole process wasn't as long as many have claimed it to be. After contacting my lawyer, it took approximately a month and a half negotiating with GM. I was hoping for GM to replace the vehicle for me since I love the CTS, but we ended up agreeing on a buy back. I'm getting all my money back and returning the car next week. Despite the issues I experienced with this car, it was a pleasure driving it below 50 mph ha-ha. Anyway, I just want to thank everyone for all the useful information on this forum. It has helped me out in many ways. Good luck to all. |

I know I'm still waiting for GM's "50mph Drone" fix. But the last TSB I read says they're working on it. So there is some hope, right? |

So we appear to have:
- A legitimate drone issue on some vehicles. Documented suggestions, but no official bulletin
- A legitimate steering wheel shake issue for some people. Although it seems recently most of these people have a simple wheel balance or alignment problem
- Some people who are proud of their ability to escalate things legally
Heck, my problem is so minor I haven't even taken it in yet. Will probably do so in the next week or two for my first oil change. However, this thread provides me with very little value because finding stuff about the drone is almost impossible mixed in with all the other rants. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think it says "Steering Vibration."

As I have posted, my problem is the drone/vibration issue. My steering wheel has a vibration NOT a shimmy. In addition to that, there is a drone throughout the entire vehicle which can also be felt.
I agree that there are several steering related issues with the CTS. I think it is a good idea to separate them being that many people have steering shimmy problems that are due to upgraded wheels and tires. I have the standard wheels and tires which is probably why my steering wheel does not shimmy.
Cadillac printed a PDI bulletin covering my issue 3 months ago and still has not come out with the repairs that they said they are working on. I now have my car over a year and am still living with this issue. I don't want my car bought back, I JUST WANT IT FIXED. Unfortunately, after putting me through the back to the dealer, still not repaired experience, I highly doubt that I would EVER drive another Cadillac again. BTW, this was my 3rd CTS. The first 2 were flawless. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
