How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

Remove this ad
This info is for those of you with HID's only, its different for the base non HID cars

It's actually very easy on this vehicle, and looks INCREDIBLE with the 6000K HID's I put in the fog lights, this mod allows you to run the light pipes in the headlights and the fog lights only for a VERY menacing look. All you need to do is remove the two fuses shown in this schematic. Both are located in the fuse box under the hood and are easy to remove/reinstall.

Due to size limitations for attachments you might have to save this schematic and blow it up to make it readable but it does work.

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

Go to CadillacFaq, it tells you which pin to cut on the module. You could also just pull the wire.

If GM would have done the DRL's properly I would have left them connected, They use teh same filament as the turn signal.

There are two types of Mods. 1- To Make it better 2-to make it different. This is one of them.

IMHO they detract from the look of the car, they look like an afterthought on this car. Its the only incandescent lamp on the outside of the vehicle and it just looks out of place. I'm running the light pipes on the side of the headlights and my HID fog's now as my DRL's and it looks AMAZING (again only my opinion I've been known to be wrong occasionally hehe)

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

So let me get this straight. By doing this your fog lights are coming on instead of your drl's or are you turning them on each time you take off. Also do you get any warning chimes because you no longer let the drl's come on.

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

I'm turning the Fogs on manually, no DTC's or anything are set when this is done its a painless procedure that is reversed simply by putting the two 7.5 amp fuses back in

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

No codes in any module, now if you pull the RELAYS it will know This is the beauty of having four Tech 2's around to make sure stuff like that doesnt happen

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

EFILive is great, only downfall (for us anyhow) would be the fact it only does ECM/TCM/PCM

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

For those of us who are somewhat lazy, and happen to live in S. Florida, does anyone have a recommendation for doing work, like the HID fog lamps? Yes, I can probably do it, but I live in a condo (no garage) and am lazy.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: How to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)

Can you snap a quick "real" pic of the fuses you pulled to get this working? That'd be helpful to make sure we're doing it right. Thanks man.
