I found an H11 LED alternative on Ebay. Supposedly a 100K hour life so it'll negate the worries of it burning out. These are supposed to be the newer LED's with much higher light output but I'm not sure how it compares to the 55W halogen in lumens produced. My local aftermarket accessory supplier told me it is due to the heat build-up in projector-style light housings. I had tried every kind or bulb out there: started off cheap with Eurolite, and went as far as a set of Hella's. Burnt them all. Finally, he told me to try a set of PIAA's. He explained the filaments in PIAA bulbs are different. I can't recall word for word what he explained, but it was along those lines. So anyways, I tried them, and I had no more bulb burnouts. I had those bulbs in for about a year and a half, then I sold it... for all I know, they could still be going today!
dragynstar- I checked out those LED alternatives on Ebay. They look pretty good! Would be very bright... interested to see everyone's opinion on them. If they get good reviews on here, I may get a set to try them out... |

If you want to see high output LED go to Home Depot and look at MAgLite - they are 3W and nowherenere the output of 55W halogens. Yes, they are white. Xenon white. |

A 1 watt LED will have very low light output (in lumens). Don't waste your money. |

Does anyone know if this compares to a 55w bulb? It'd be nice if we can figure out the lumen output of both the 55w halogen compared to say a 3W or 5W LED but I can't seem to find those numbers anywhere. |

If so, how difficult is this procedure? And how does it look? |

I will look for it.
OK here it is http://www.physorg.com/news93198212.html
I didn't look for any commercial results of this, but Osram doesn't do benevolent R&D........

In fact, the story says "The Ostar Lighting LED, for example, produces 75 lumens per watt". So, if it produces 1000 lumens, it must be 1000/75 = 13.3 watts.
Am I missing something here? |

I read this story too and you are right there is no mention of 5W LED. However, it seems that the Osram LED is most efficient on the market now with 75 lumens/W. I think I saw recently a flash light with high output 3W LED. The lumen output supposed to be >100 lumens.
The point of this thread should be – be aware of false claims at eBay! There is simply too many scammers praying on innocent buyers. |

Thought I'd install one side only and take a picture to show how the Hoen looks opposite the OEM, yellow bulb. See what you think. |
