2009 CTS trouble with acceleration on the highway, 115K, need help

Hey guys: first time on this site and new member. Recent problem with my caddy, car seems to run smooth from starts, low MPH, lately on the highway, if I try to increase my speed, engine hesitates and I hear a klunky noise almost like its having trouble shifting. I don't have a check engine light on, so I can run any codes or anything. I know my plugs are original and probably need changed, can you think of anything else I should ask the shop to look for? I just don't always trust the dealer to start small, they always seem to have a long list of repairs that have to be the problem. Any help would be great. Thanks.

What octane gas do you use? Low octane gas causes my 09 the same problem. I use premium 91 non ethanol now because of that.

I'd change those spark plugs, then add some bg44k. See if that helps.

Just take it one step at a time, starting immediately with new plugs.

    Recommend the following:
    - Replace Spark Plugs & Check wires
    - Change air filter
    - Clean MAF & throttle body
    - BG44K during the next fuel fill-up
    - Monitor DIC for fault codes generated by faulty coil packs

Bg44k ? Is that like a "Techron" product?

Have the throttle body cleaned at the dealer ....that and new plugs should do it.

I have a 2009 CTS and have had four ignition coils go out in the last 2000 miles. I have 98k on it. The symptoms are exactly as described. If you continue to reproduce it the check engine light will come on. They aren't cheap to get replaced.

No but this is something you can do yourself if you have 15 mins and a ratchet. Coils can be purchased for 60 at your local autoparts store and there is a write up on this forum of how easy it is.

TB clean takes 10 minutes yourself and a $399 can of brake clean. You also have severely coked intake valves now (and if no new timing chain you are way over due for the set). Plugs are the first thing to do though, and then remove the PCV barb and drill it as it will be 100% clogged by now so your pushing oil into the intake tube. Lots of things to bring this baby back to like new performance. Let me know if you want guidance.

This link will show pictures of what your intake valves look like:

A manual cleaning ($500 here) is the best way to correct this.
