If you swap (not directed and anyone) do the world a favor and buy good brake pads and do a season of autoX first so you know how to drive and not just be a dangerous tool driving a fast car lol
    Agree.

AutoX is a funny sport, you can spend $10,000 to prep a "stock" car, the thought of buying a Miata is such a great idea and none of your normal friends understand why and you can spend $500+ to go to an event to get your name the highest on a printout lol

It goes to your point of the true art/skill of driving. It's one thing to sit behind the wheel of a big block muscle car, grab the wheel, stomp on the gas and go straight while holding on. It's an entirely different story when you have to pass, corner and brake.

Personally I think the stock LFX is pretty underpowered for a big car like these. Consider my '93 ranger weighed less, had a manual transmission, more low end torque and lower gears and felt like a gutless pig, it's hard to believe that we are in sports coupe territory. The LS is an amazing platform, would have been perfect in these cars. Yes, I know the v is an LSA, but an LS3 in the base model would make a. Lot of sense. Good on fuel, strong foundations. My brother built one with over 500hp NA or 700 on juice in a 200 mph Vetted and it was super reliable, and good on fuel.

The LFX seems decent but the twin turbo one in the new Vsport seems the right direction for the non v cars....

I think the HP mark at 320 or so is good but the lfx needs more torque. Torque is low are 265 or 275 whatever it is and I think that it should be at 300 or above. I think that's what is holding this engine back more than anything

He's only raced out there once so far. Damn good driver though. His car is more set up for road course for sure, but it's still a blast. I think he took first in RAW and PAX that day in our regional match, but he wouldn't stand a chance using that at Nationals.

There's another guy that brings a basic LS1 swap out to all the events and he consistently does well.

I've got a 94 r-package that I'm getting screwed with the new cars in my class next year. It's between building a CSP to be more competitive or building a LS swap to be more fun.

I had a prepped 99 Trans AM with 400 rwhp and I was getting spanked by Stock class NA miata's. I never understood until I rode in one. Now I race one in stock class myself and haven't looks back.

I have an SM Talon that is going up to 315's next year, it is fast as it is on 285's but you can always use more tire right? lol

I love explaining to new people and spectators that the Miata is one of the fastest cars here, priceless looks on faces, some people just don't understand.
