Simply for the looks. I do not drive the car fast or hard enough for them to make any difference but I love the way the cross drilled rotors look. And with the 20's I just put on there they are significantly more visible than with the stock 18's.

    R1 I sent you a PM.

They will offer no advantage to braking high or low speed and will eat pads and dust more, but they do look cool

What about slotted or dimpled, still looks cool and not the problems of drilled.

Check rockauto, I think centric (stop Tec) makes them and the blanks I have used were really nice.

You left out the worst problem with drilled rotors, "Cracking".

Not sure if they will under daily driving, but maybe.

My Brembos did not, they did crack at the track though.

Re: Cross drilled rotors for coupe?

Very good feedback here, I appreciate it! Never owned anything but stock smooth rotored vehicles so this will go a long way. I've never even heard of dimpled rotors. How about the drilled and slotted ones? What would your recommendations be for an application where the wear would be similar to stock but give the car a more aggressive look?

Re: Cross drilled rotors for coupe?

Well not all rotors are created equal either, if you buy $50 ebay drilled rotors you will get what you pay for, if you buy $$$ drilled rotors they may be made better but will still have the same issues.

The drilled slotted rotors are going to do the same thing and eat pads and dust more, stick to plain or slotted, giving up longevity and stopping power for looks is never a good idea.

But all that being said lots of people do it and are just fine.

So slotted rotors will negatively impact stopping distance?

Re: Cross drilled rotors for coupe?

I'm not going to say they will because your tires will let you down before the brakes will IMO.

The drilled rotor has less swept area but I don't know if it is any less than slotted, I'm sure if you looked hard enough there is data on the net but I don't think it matters.

This has been debated hard over the years, buy what you like and be happy about it, they look cool and if that is your goal than hit that

A plain rotor will serve you best but really for a daily driver I doubt it will matter.
