    Electric Exhaust Cut-Outs

Installing DMH electric exhaust cut-outs and would like to get some ideas for a subtle place for a button. I was thinking of getting the CTS-V parking brake button and wiring it for the cut-outs. I was also curious if anyone knows if I could use the heated windshield washer button but that may be too much work/not possible. Any other inconspicuous places?

A simple place would right next to the 12V power plug that is under the car radio (it's hidden behind the flip-up panel) Or in the storage compartment in the center console?

This is a great idea btw... please post pics & video when you're done the install.

That is a good idea, I think I will probably go with the center console as I like my 12v compartment for change. I wanted some more power and sound but didn't wanna make a permanent change in exhaust, especially on a Cadillac. Here's a video I checked out before making the purchase:

If I did this I would put it in the center console right next to the 3.5mm AUX input.

So you're going to do like in the video and bypass the mufflers? That's probably the best way to do it. On my camaro I put my manual cutout in the place of the stock cat (single cat car), so I had to crawl under the car and unbolt it everytime I wanted to open it LOL... It was probably the best 30$ (plus install $) that I've ever spent on a car I remember when I first picked the car up from the exhaust shop and they revved it up with the cutout open my face just lit up However the drone inside the car when driving around for extended periods of time was very loud. right before the mufflers would be perfect IMO.

Yes, please post vids! It sounds pretty good unloaded, but I'd have to hear this setup on a decel from high speed before doing any permanent modifications

I wanna see the dyno on this - what you think the gain is, if any?

    Re: Electric Exhaust Cut-Outs

It depends on how restrictive the stock exhaust system is and how close to the exhaust manifolds you put the cut outs. Obviously before the catalytic converters would be best (thus running open headers when opening the cut-outs) but not sure on how feasible this is.
On my other car I put it in the place of the stock cat and would pick up a solid 1.5 mph at the track when I would open it.

Like the OP has done, you are basically just by-passing the mufflers, which are obviously a restriction so there is definitely some benefit in terms of hp. If I would have to guess I would say probably in the range of 5-10 whp at the most... I'm more interested in hearing the sound at WOT though

What sized cutouts did you get? I can't seem to find the piping size anywhere?

Also what wire are you tapping off of to give you power? I don't feel like running directly to the battery because it is all the way in the back.
