There is a lot of confusion around this,
On -line sources say that the key and fob will both be replaced. That makes no sense to me since they are already separate on mine. Plus my key has just a hole rather than a slot.

Even cars with keyed ignition have fobs for the locks and alarm.

Same here, I even called Cadillac Customer Service yesterday. She said that there are no current recalls affecting my car.

there's no law that forces folks to consummate a recall; some recalls are plain silly
and if some schlock at the dealership mucks it up, you're better off not doing it.
I suspect these ignition claims are people who hang 3lbs of junk on their key ring,
my wife Linda hangs about that much, even a wallet. I forced her just yesterday to
put the key only on the fob ring, I'm sure she'll never have an issue. She says she has
a hard time finding her key in the bottomless pit of a purse she hauls around.
    thanks, douglas

I'm thinking the same thing, except that a smaller key fob sure would be nice.

This "fob" terminology is confusing some folks. Both "keyed" and "keyless" ignition comes with a "fob". This recall seems to affect only "keyed" ignition cars, but I may be wrong as nothing seems clear at this point.

Concise and well said, it would be great if the "confused" could get it, but I doubt it.

Re: GM's latest RECALL includes CTS...

a new fob would be great but I don't think that's the issue. the issue is the ignition switch,
the part on the steering column you put the key in. too much weight hanging on it may cause
it to disengage and shut the engine off. I can't see how that could happen, but supposedly a few
people have gotten into predicaments that they could not control the car with the engine shut
down. I'm pretty sure I could control the car and come to a safe stop if the engine suddenly
shuts down. But isn't that how they recover stolen cars, they shut the engine down?
    thanks, douglas

Douglas I completely agree with you. However, my daughter is visiting from Alaska with a 1 and 3 year old grandkids. I believe she couldn't handle the car if it shut off randomly. If something were to happen .... I just couldn't take that.

As a friend of mine said - it is AIP (Accountant Induced Failure). I really think the date of the death of Western Civilization occurred was when the first computer spreadsheet was invented. It gave the Accountants way to much control.
