    2014 NAV Nap Update Available

Just happened to check - new update out there -

    GM - North America Map Update - Alpine HDD - v.2014 SKU# 23455274

    $200 for those interested

    Website - http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...ADILLAC-NAVCOM

or use abbreviated version www.navigation.com and you will make it there. Might skip this one as I did last years - but maybe one day they will get D.C. and Balt. right with guidance.

While I would like to have the most up-to-date nav system, $200 is a little hard to stomach in this day and age. There are so many better, free nav apps for our smartphones I fail to see how GM and friends can charge this outrageous amount. I could see doing it one time then have unlimited updates, but at $200 per year/18 months I fail to see how this business model works. One man's opinion.

I agree. A did purchase the 2014 update and am sure this will be the last one. My two garmins with lifetime map updates work great

I am thinking I might bit the bullet and do one last upgrade as well. I will probably wait one more year (rolling the dice) or they might even (gasp!) discount it to $159 like they did once before.

I agree. It's just hard to believe you can buy a portable navigation for under $200 and get lifetime map updates but if you spend anywhere from $30,000 to $70,000 for a Cadillac you have to buy the updates. At the bare minimum at least update them until your factory warranty expires

Which is exactly why GM feels they can stick you for the $$$$$

I just bought a new nav disc for my gm truck and there are lots of improvements over the previous disc. It was worth it to me.

I lucked out. I ordered the 2013 for $159.00 but they were out of it because of the loading problems. When they got stock in again it was the 2014 so they sent me that. But i don't know if i would get one every year, not at the price they charge.

As I recall the one I got last year had the wrong auth code (AGAIN!) and I had to call for a new one.

    ----------

Be careful during checkout - some minor glitches in setting up address info and there was an activation code listed on product in my Cart for my VIN and a different one once the order was processed, which was the one also contained in the order email.

To who ever has the new 2014 update. I'm thinking about getting it but not sure if they have done updates in my area. Could someone punch in an address and tell me if it shows up?

Sure, pick on the poor sap in FL that has no idea what ice is, eh? Hopefully my flightless birds will go far even though we only have half our team on the ice.

Just so you know, when I moved here in 1998 I found a place to play hockey BEFORE I had a place to live. Priorities, you know.
