    2011-12 3.0 V6 owners, happy?

I'm looking at getting a CPO CTS 3.0 for my wife. It lacks some seat of the pants feel compared to the 3.6 but it seems workable. Any regrets from 3.0 owners out there?

I'm very happy with the engine. Lots of power and good mileage (17/26) for a guy with a size 14 lead foot.

I had a rental 2012 3.0 CTS sedan for two weeks and can hands down say it was the biggest luxury turd I had ever driven. Under powered and disgustingly unstable at highway speeds. To the point I told my friend that rode with me to pick up my coupe that if the 3.6 rode the same way I would leave the car at the dealer and buy a vette instead. Keep in mind the dealer was 6 hours away.

Obviously, it would depend on the Vette, if you expect more power. I encountered one trying to pass me on the ramp as we entered a 6 lane highway, and being a lead foot, I hammered it. He could not get by my wagon, and after I let up and he got alongside, he gave me the traditional single digit salute while his chin was going up and down in the losing lane.

My 11 3.0 is fine for me. My prior was a 3.6 and i had the same thoughts when i purchased it. Plenty of power and i consistantly get 20 around town. 21k on it. I think that it has 20 more hp than my 05 3.6 anyway.

I had a 2011 3.0 with the FE1........ 270 HP more than my 259HP G8.... You be the judge.... The 3.0 was fine... The suspension in the 3.0 to me was adequate and better balanced with OEM tires than my current 3.6 with the Performance Suspension..... The previous poster was driving a rental, could be there were possible problems with that car... That said, all of my GM vehicles end up getting the suspensions moded in some form or another.

I very much doubt that the instability was caused by the lack of 36 c.i.d.

3.0 RWD bro here. No problems. I had a 3.6 1st generation CTS. The 3.0 doesn't rev as loud as the 3.6, but it still delivered the power I needed smoothly. Compared to the 2nd generation 3.6, I can't really say. I got a loaner 3.6 performance before, but I didn't have it long to notice any difference.

I've had my 2011 AWD 3.0L for about 3 months now and very happy with the power, ride, and handling.
Mileage is about the same as the others, although I havent seen anything higher than 22mpg on the highway, even though the specs say 26.
