If I've learned anything with my 2008 CTS, it's not to panic when I get multiple diagnostic codes. I'm hoping someone here may be able to shed some light on my current issue. I'm up in Michigan where we almost broke a record with snowfall this year. About two weeks ago a snow hump ripped the plastic lower engine cover off (new one is on the way). Yesterday the service engine light came on and I read the following codes P2600, P0480, P0481, P0057, P0037, P2602, P0691, P0037, P2602, P0691.
I'm hoping that a problem with the aux. cooling pump and/or its associated wiring harness has caused all of these codes. The temps are climbing here in Michigan and I plan to crawl under the car tomorrow. I'm looking for suggestions as to where I should look and if it is possible for the aux. coolant pump to throw all of these codes.
P2600 Coolant pump control circuit open
P0480 Cooling fan 1 control circuit malfunction
P0481 Cooling fan 2 control circuit malfunction
P0057 Heated oxygen sensor heater control circuit low bank 2 sensor 2
P0037 Heated oxygen sensor heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 2
P2602 Coolant pump circuit low
P0691 Fan 1 control circuit low
P0693 Fan 2 control circuit low
I think I may have solved the problem. . . . at least for now. Sun was out so I did a little poking around. The plastic guard (lower engine cover) was half missing from snow/ice damage. I ordered a new one and it should be here in a few days. While I was under the car I inspected all wiring and found nothing wrong. Looking at the codes and the service manual, I found that all codes were related to the cooling fans and cooling pump. All three fan relays and the pump relay are fused by EMIS 2. Guess what .. .. .. .. EMIS 2 (15 A fuse) was blown. I replaced the fuse, cleared the codes, drove the car for 15 miles and no codes came back. Hopefully after I replace the engine cover, the codes don't return. If they do, I'll report back.
