    08 CTS - A/c recharge

Hello all, it seems as warmer months approach my a/c system is struggling a bit. Id like to try a simple a/c recharge before I take it somewhere. Ive done it on several other cars with success.

Anyone done it yet? I'm sure it just takes regular R134a right? I cant find pressure #'s.

Anything other than just hooking it up to the line near the oil cap? (Normal procedure...Hook up, run car, pressurize...etc).

    Thanks!

Ok, so I ended up just buying a bottle of recharge and it seemed to work great. What is even better is it might of fixed another problem I had.

Basically over the last few months, my passenger side a/c started to be intermittent...then pretty much completely stopped working. I thought it was the mix/blend valve. But then the entire a/c got real weak and sometimes wouldn't be cold at all.

After the recharge it was instantly freezing on both driver AND passenger side. Good news.

Thought I would post my experience for reference. I just need to drive around a bit more and make sure nothing changes...

Could you post details of the product you used? And maybe how you did it for those of us who have no real knowledge of this? Thanks...

Pretty straight forward...just hooked up the bottle to the a/c line right next to the oil cap, turned car on and AC on max...then just used entire bottle (or till gets to recommended pressure for temp). The pressure was super low when I started which explains it barely working.

The AC is a closed system, so this may work for now, but you still have a problem and it will return unless you find the source of the leak and repair it.

I know that AC techs hate that stuff with the stop-leak stuff in it. It will cost extra once they tear into it, most probably.
