2012 AWD is shutting off in SNOW

My 12 CTS AWD has shut off on me twice. Both times there was with snow on the ground. The first time I tried shutting the car down and restarting, but still had NO AWD. It eventually came back on after the third attempt at restarting the vehicle. That was during the last snow storm. I have not driven it in snow since. Today it snowed, and again the AWD shut off. I decided to leave the car at home and not risk it, because the car just does not go in the snow without the AWD. The rear tires just spin and the car goes sideways. This is unsafe and not very reliable. The car was brought new and has only 8600 miles on it. It only happens in the snow. ANYONE? I have an appointment next week with the dealer. Has anyone had anything like this happen? I live on a hill and when I go down it I use the manual transmition to use 2nd gear to brake. Both times it happened I warmed up my car for 15 minutes before I drove it, with the heat and defroster on.

I would get to the dealer sooner and stress its a safety issue. You'll find threads on here about this issue. I believe some people have attributed it to certain sensors that have gotten screwed up with the weather. Wheel speed sensors and such.

I'd guess a wheel speed sensor is in trouble. Suggest you get to the dealer and have it sorted.

HaHa, ya know thats exactly how I feel. My one uncle swore by his devilles and my other was just telling me he hasnt been without atlest one cadillac since '56. The reason he buys them is because they're "reliable"..... however now he wouldnt know how reliable they are in this era because he upgrades his escalades every 2 or 3 years. My wife laughs because I trust my work beater and I mean beater over my CTS.... it gets 150 miles a day and hasnt had an oil change in over 80k, where the cts is maintained to the "T".

Who knows, I know Im tired of its problems but hate looking for new vehicles. The CTS was top on my list because I dont know that theres another car in its class that comes near close to its looks...... It is a beautiful car!

    Hello CTS4MATION,

I apologize that you are experiencing a concern with your CTS when you are using the manual sifter downhill and your experience with Cadillac Customer Service has not been great. Could you private message me your name, contact info, VIN, mileage, and dealership that you are working with so I can look into this further?

Every car manufacture has cars in it's line up that has issues. You could get another 09 CTS and have no issues with it what so ever. I have had a 2006 and now a 2008 CTS and I run them hard. I will take the Rpm up to 5-7K A few times a week so i basically play around and I have zero issues. i also maintenance them and check my oil once a week and keep it topped up if i needs which they usually don't. I like the CTS a lot. It's been reliable for me.
