Looking to buy a CTS 3-4 years old with low mileage

    Hello CTS forum members,

I'm looking to buy a CTS that's about 3-4 years old with low mileage as a daily driver.
I'm not all that familiar with the CTS as far as anything to know about the first or second generation models, features, common problems, etc.

If anyone can share any information, that would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Jim

3.6 engine has more spunk the the base 3.0 engine. Some folks complain about the seats. Get the car for a weekend to try them out.

    ----------

Also, AWD is unto itself. I recommend RWD. Performance and/or Premium package is also preferred over the Base model. Sunroof can be an issue with the drains getting clogged, especially if you park outside and around trees.

Wait until spring and you can buy my 2010 premum edition with under 30K miles.

I just purchased my pre-owned '11 Premium with 3.6 DI engine and LOVE it. No complaints other than lack of storage. 19,100 miles and still has a little bit of that new car smell remaining.

    Thanks for all the feedback.
I test drove a 2010 premium edition with a 3.6 engine and loved the ride and handling.
Going to look at some others for comparison and then decide on what to get. I like the lighter color interiors (tan, shale) similar to my 98 Eldo.

I've owned our 2008 CTS AWD 3.6 liter direct injection with sport package....(18 inch rims and swivel headlights since October 2007.

The car now has 48k miles and has been utterly reliable. No repairs...just change the oil, add gas, bought new tires around 40k miles....just so my wife would have nice tread for the winter months.

This has been a wonderful ownership experience so far.

Good luck and a pre owned CTS is a smart choice...depreciation is strong and the vehicle has been excellent.

    Hi Larua,

As I'm looking at the different CTS models, can you tell me, or point me to where I can understand the differences between the Luxury, Premium, and Performance models? I see some have a NAV unit, and differences in interiors, etc.

    Thank you,

    Jim

    Hello Jim,

Each model year has different options when it comes to the luxury, premium and performance models. Like you said the difference between these models could be their navigation units, keyless start, lighting accents; there are many different items. If you provide me with a VIN of a vehicle you are interested in, I can confirm the option codes and vehicle build for you in addition to if it's a Luxury, Performance or Premium model. Send me a private message so we can further discuss any questions.

    Sincerely,

    Laura M.

Jim: The easiest way to compare the trim levels is to go cadillac.com and do a build your own. Choose either a coupe or the wagon since their trim hasn't changed significantly since 2010. You can then compare the trim levels side by side. Remember, you can add additional options to each trim level if it wasn't included in that trim level, such as the summer tire package, navigation etc...

    Thank you both..
I'm going to look at one today and will try and get the VIN# if I'm interested in it.
I'll also go to the cadillac site.
