2009 Black Cherry Paint, Not Enough Base Coat.

I have noticed since new that the lower portion of all my doors and the rocker panels are almost 2 different colors. Looks worse in direct sunlight. I didn't think I could do anything about it other than repainting at an incredible cost.
I took the car to my local body shop for an unrelated issue and they commented that the factory did not spray enough base coat. This is something that GM should make good for. That meant a trip to the dealer and they agreed. "Voila", Cadillac Sprayed Both Front Fenders, All 4 Doors as well both Rear Quarters. They did mention that the Rocker Panels, being of different material, will take the color differently. Attached is a photo showing the before. I haven't had the chance for after shots yet, however car looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in 1988 when I purchased a new Bonneville SSE, within 6 years the Clear Coat crapped out no matter what I did. Unaware at the time that if I took it to the dealer, they would have Painted the whole car. I questioned them a little too late.
I am glad I didn't have a repeat of that.
Thank You Cadillac for Standing Behind Your Product.

Oh wow! That rocker panel really stands out on the car. I'm glad they got that fixed for you.

The paint on my 2008 CTS looks bad! I bought the car a few months back. I would like to get the car totally repainted.

I test drove a car in black cherry. I didn't end up buying it because the car was trashed, half the paint was missing from the exterior of the car, and there was matching paint speckled all over the interior. But it's a cool color and it changes color in the light too.

I'm glad they fixed that for you.

Just a guess but the pictures you supplied shows you car with 2010-present rocker panels. If so, I bet who ever originally painted them just didn't do a great job. Not a factory problem. Thankfully the dealer fixed it for you.
