    Smile 2015 CTS-V 601 0r 602 HP

I was just told by my dealer that in 2014 a all new 2015 CTS-V was coming to market with 601 or 602 HP. Has anyone heard this? Thanks

    "220, 221... Whatever it takes." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX3kxAA2L4Q 601 or 602? It'll take either.

Sounds about right. If they're bringing back the V, it'll have to outdistance itself from the V Sport. Sounds like a Vette engine to me.

Wonder if they'll have a redesigned CTS coupe????

Well the CTS-V was essentially a Corvette Z06 with a back seat.

Well other than them being totally different, an engine does not a Corvette make.

Ok, maybe I stretched the facts a bit, but a V coupe that essentially has a detuned version of the Z06 along with magnetic ride control is not that much of a compromise over a Z06.

As a race car driver it is a huge compromise over a Z06 and if you want to compare apples to apples then use the ZR1 (Z06 used an NA 7.0 not 6.2).

So other than giving up like 75HP and 800lbs, big wheels, aero, brakes and a pile of other stuff they are the same.....

If you are talking driving around on the street or drag racing then ok maybe but if you are talking real racing they are not the same by any stretch at all, they are both RWD V8 cars made by GM and then they start to grow apart from there.

I was talking about street driving as that is what the majority of us do. Let's face it, as much as I want a V even that car is overkill for commuting back and forth to work or the occasional drive on a back road.

Thanks for the clarification on the Z06 and the ZR1 differences. I must've gotten things confused also with the Camaro ZL1 which I thought shared the same engine as the V.

Don't get me wrong the V is awesome but the Z06 and ZR1 are monsters.

For most, the 3.6 is adequate. For some, the 3.6 TT is better. For the few, the big block V is awesome.

I'd love to have a V!! .........If I was an Arab oil shiek.
The gas mileage would kill me. But what a blast to drive every day! A friend of mine has a V wagon - with a 6 speed manual! Now THAT car is a hoot to drive!!! Says he averages about 18 mpg

18 mpg isn't bad. I would guess though that I would have my foot into that accelerator so much that 18 mpg would be impossible.

Two years ago at SEMA a GM engineer said to me "I cannot confirm nor deny 650 horsepower in the 2015 CTS-V"

The V drivetrain is stout, good to 650 hp easily.
