    Yay! $900 Driveshaft repair with 23,000 miles.

    Drivetrain has been making noise since the car was new in '08. Asked a dealer about it when it was still under warranty, said nothing they could do. It's been making lots of noise/hum/droning between 50-60mph. Finally had some free time to bring it to the dealer, they said it's the center support bearing. The fix is to replace the entire driveshaft, somewhere around $900 total. Car has less then 23k on it.

    How often do these fail? I've been putting miles on it lately and don't want to do this all over again a year from now. CTS 3.6DI RWD auto.

    Go to an independent shop. You can just buy the driveshaft support bearing. It's like a 100 dollar part.
    Cadillac will need to replace the whole thing, but a regular shop can just replace the failed part. Save yourself 700+ dollars.
