How will the value go down if it gets repainted good enough 99% of population will not ever notice

The rear passenger side quarter panel of my CTS got repainted on a written agreement prior to buying it, there was a tiny bubble in the paint.
And no one can even notice it.

It that was the case then every single warranty repair done on a car by GM would decrease its value because it all goes into GM's system too

I would snap if my coupe's paint looked like that!

I wouldn't be surprised if your car was re-painted prior to your purchase. Factory clear coats should rarely peel as I am assuming automated robots do the spraying. I guess there could have been some defect in the actual clearcoat though.

it's been repainted. either poor prep, too much flash time between color and clear or defective clearcoat. The stone chips are worse with a repaint, water gets under it and lifts the clearcoat. By the way, you can't drive fast enough to make paint peel. that only happens in TV commercials.

I have some paint issues with my 2010 crystal red wagon as well. Definite flaking under the luggage rails. I also have a weird peeling anomaly on my left
front fender. I brought it in recently but they said they needed someone from Cadillac to review it this month. I haven't heard back from them and suspect that I won't.

A few years back when I got an estimate for a trade-in the inspector used some sort of device to figure out the depth of the paint to see if any parts were re-painted. I don't know if that's still being used today but I am sure it must've affected the value otherwise he wouldn't have performed it.

My b.f. had my neighbor who does detail and touch up work on Porsche's & Ferrarri's check mine with the digital gauge.
I was told my paint repair was within .3 of other parts of the car and some of the original GM paint had great difference's or something like that.
But I was told my repair was pretty dam good and shouldn't cause any suspicion's.

Either way it doesn't matter the warranty paint repair is in the GM system under my Vin but it is the only repair done on my car under warranty that hasn't concerned me.

I have been told some of the only people that usually use the paint depth thickness gauges are auto auction buyers because some don't have instant access to the actual records of the vehicles prior to buying at the auction's.

Here's the fender paint issue. Looks a bit different than yours.

[QUOTE=mightypizu;10780322]Here's the fender paint issue. Not sure exactly same as your issue.

That is a terrible problem caused by improper prep/paint work. Don't let up on asking Cadillac to fix this!

    Good luck, Marv
