I installed a catch can right at 14K miles on my '12 coupe. Prior to that I would have to add about a quart of oil every 5K-6K miles. Certainly not an issue.

My car now has 19k miles 5K since the install. Last night I checked the oil and it was full. Right at the bottom of the top hash mark.

My question is that I know the catch can is supposed to prevent oil ingestion, but I should see the oil lower on the engine but in the catch can. No?

Could the catch can actually be preventing the oil from even getting sucked in?

Not unless the catch can has a built-in bilge pump to return the oil. Most likely the piston rings are now fully broken in.
