2009 CTS DI - NAV Radio screen blinking/ electrical interference

Recently started seeing electrical like interference on the NAV/radio screen. I thought it might be alternator/battery related, but had a full check on battery and alternator and all comes back perfect. The fact that no other lights (dash, LED accent lights, headlights, etc) experience no blinking or electrical disruption dimming or erratic behavior, seems to confirm its not alternator/battery related.

After driving for 30-45 mins it seems to go away - that's why I suspected battery, almost like it took a while to charge. When it first occurs, if you let off accelerator the screen blinking stops, and as soon as hit gas it gets erratic. Seems when the car sits thru the day in the heat, and I leave work and it's fine.

Does anyone know what might cause this? Could there be some relay or electrical suppressor leading to the display that might be the culprit?

    Hello pgdrews,

I apologize for electrical issues you are experiencing with your CTS. I understand how intermittent issues can be frustrating. I am more than happy to look into this for you if you provide me with your VIN via private message. I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Sincerely,

You might need new NAV screen. Not a big deal. What's hard is to get it failing at dealer, correct?
If you have a iPhone or similar take a pic or movie of screen when it fails. Be careful driving while doing this. Once I did this dealer had no issues replacing screen. They do fail.

I know it has been awhile. Was the problem ever resolved? Having the same problem on my 2013 CTS Coupe and dealer can't seem to figure out the problem. Car has been in for service 5 times now. They have replaced the nav screen, radio and cabling attached to the screen and the problem still exist.

Unfortunately not. I traded it in over a year ago and was still intermittently occurring. I still think it's something to do with wiring or interference on the power line between battery and radio.

I had a similar problem with the nav screen on my H3 Hummer. Bought some di
electric grease and coated the connector at the head unit and bingo worked like new. Dielectric grease is electrically insulating and does not break down when high voltage is applied. It is often applied to electrical connectors,

I had the static screen also coming in and out until it remained that way . It is a known problem according to my Caddy dealer. The wire connectors come little loose after time and need replacement. Mine was covered and haven't had a prob since.

I had a similar problem, especially when the screen first popped up, and I concluded it was a bad electrical connection. Lowering and raising the screen always fixed it. Problem seems to have disappeared, or at least I haven't noticed it recently. Perhaps dirty contacts that got cleaned by repeated lowering and raising of the screen.
