It seems like the battery should be changed every 3 years or every 50k miles based upon my experience .. Here is YouTube on how to. Scott is a dealer serviceman

I have a number of devices that use the same battery as the remote. I buy them 6 at a time and only pay about $1.25 each. I change the batteries in the remotes on my birthday each year. That makes it easy to remember and for the price I don't need to worry about a dead battery.

I would make one amendment to that is to use a plastic pry tool like the ones used for small electronics this will prevent damaging the plastic case.

    They look like these: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...ol&FORM=HDRSC2

I have tons lying around because of all the Cell phone screen replacements I do.

    Great video!
    Update.
Appointment. Long one. Dealer proved remote doesn't work. Looked, but didn't have a replacement Ordering one...another trip.
    Oh well.
It will be good when it is fixed.
My wife is incredible. She took it in.
