FOB - Remote

Greetings,
Yesterday, I started my CTS. My wife decides to drive the CTS to work and I drove her car to put air in her rear tires. Strange as it is, my wife does not have her FOB or remote with her when she gets into the CTS and drives to work! I thought, for security reasons the car would not move or be driveable without having the FOB or remote in the car with you? Am I wrong about this?

It will not start without the fob in the car, but if you start it with the fob, get out of the car while it is still running, someone else can get in and drive away. There will be a message in the DIC will state that the fob is not detected. If the car is turned off, it will not start again.

It will not automatically turn off if it no longer detects the fob.
