CPO Warranty Has Me Really Confused-Cadillac Too

I just go off the phone after a frustrating 45 minutes on the Cadillac 800 line. Here's my question, I'm thinking of trading my CTS in on a V. My CPO warranty expires in 2016. The dealer that has the V is NOT a Cadillac dealer and he's telling me that the warranty is worthless as it will not transfer to whoever eventually buys the car. The woman that tried to help me at Cadillac first said he was right, then came back and said he was wrong, that the warranty stays with the car no matter the owner. So who's right? Anyone from Cadillac monitoring? You guys have any experience?

    Thanks,

    Joe Cortney

Pdabs is right...the warranty stays with the car, but ifyour trading the car in at the same dealer ask the dealer to re-imburse for the warranty as that will be a selling point for him. Also if you have On-Star and it's paid up you can transfer it to your new car.

    Hello Joe,

I am here to assist in answering your question on the CPO warranty transfer. The warranty stays with the vehicle no matter the owner. I hope this confirmation answers your question. If you have any other concerns, please let us know. Have a great night.

    Sincerely,
    Laura M.

The basic BtoB warranty stays with the car. The extended warranty can be returned and GM will refund the unused portion of the extended warranty.(It's like cancelling your auto insurance early) With the refund you can purchase an extended warranty on the new car or just put it back in the pocket it came from. I learned this from the dealer who has handled the refund on my last two CTS's.

The OP wasn't talking about B2B or an extended warranty. He was talking about a CPO warranty.

Are we sure a CPO stays with the vehicle?

Yes. Unlike a typical "extended warranty", the Cadillac Certified Pre-Owned warranty stays with the vehicle. It does not follow the owner, it does not end with the owner, the owner cannot return/cancel the warranty and/or get a refund on unused portion of the warranty.

Just like the Powertrain and BtB warranties, it is "fully transferable" at no charge to the next owner...meaning the next owner enjoys all the privileges of said warranty until expiration.
