    Phone for Bluetooth service

Just purchased a 2009 CTS, and today was the day to deal with the cell phone and Bluetooth service. I was able to, via voice command, successfully call my house number. However, my wife was not able to call me in the car from the land line in the house. My cell phone rang in the car, but the bluetooth system never picked it up. I am aware of the "very affordable" cell phones not being capable on all fronts. So, my question is, short of using an expensive smart phone (and service), does anyone recommend a cheaper phone that will work with CTS Bluetooth? We have used TracFones for quite sometime now. There's just the two of us and we only call each other and we are on-in-years. We really have no use for a glitzy phone -- just something we can expect to
work with the GM Bluetooth system. Thanks for your time. If I must enter the realm of a Smart Phone, then I will. But, I'll be dragging my old feet all the way!

I have a basic cheapo phone from Net 10 (LG 800) that works fine with the CTS Bluetooth.

Is OnStar an option for you?

Just an FYI, I have full control (root) to my phone and after putting on custom "software" on the phone, my bluetooth constantly shows it's connecting on the DIC. And yet I'm able to go back to the carrier supplied software, which works fine.

A basic (bluetooth) phone should work just fine. Be sure you followed the paring instructions in the owner's manual completely. If you're still stuck, stop by your dealership and ask to speak to their Certified Technology Expert. They should be happy to help you figure it out.
