Turn Signal Trick for Changing Lanes

This may have already been posted but it is new to me and probably a few others.

When changing lanes you can just tap the turn signal lever up or down and it will flash automatically 3 times. No need to hold or lock it. I've never seen this on any other car, but then again it's the "little things" that just keep impressing me with the CTS.

    Hammer

Hard to find a car without it today. I rent 40+ cars a year and it's unusual to find one that doesn't do it - even Chevy Malibu's have this feature.

So it isn't magic after all lol.

Just found this on page 3-8 of the owner's manual:

Move the lever all the way up or down to signal a turn.
Raise or lower the lever until the arrow starts to flash
to signal a lane change. Hold it briefly until the lane
change is complete. The arrow will automatically
    flash three times.

Documented in manual - but discovered it by accident with my 08 CTS. Extremely valuable function to free up time, improve concentration on the pass rather than fiddling with turn lever - then oops - went too far - now I have to turn it off when turn completed.

GM are followers; instead of just adding the feature they should improve it.
At least allow us to customize the amount of flashes.
It should be at least 4 flashes; 3 is not enough.

Re: Turn Signal Trick for Changing Lanes

Merge, I agree with the 4 flashes. However, in GM's true spirit of following, Audi and BMW and many others have been using 3 flashes for years like others have pointed out. GM will only match what others have done. God Forbid if they venture out with something like, gasp, 4 flashes.
    MoFex and MoFex like this.

Yes, they all do. We were commenting that we would rather have it flash 4 times instead of 3 flashes.

I added quotation marks. I was just mocking you guys complaining about how many times your blinker flashes lol

Oh. Pretty quick on the pick up.

Well, as Emily Litella said, "Never mind."

Actually I would take one good "flash" over three crappy ones

I think it should flash until the yaw sensor picks up a lane change, then shut off. Within reason of course, maybe 8 or 10. Of course that assumes the car has a yaw sensor...

You know that if you push down the pedal on the right the car goes faster, and push the one on the left and it slows down. Who woulda thunk?
