Greetings all. During a oil change yesterday the service station also checked out a engine ticking. They recommended I go to a GM/Cadillac dealer because it sounds like its coming from fuel pump area. Are these types of engine repairs covered under power train warranty?

Could this be timing chain related like I've been reading on here?

Do you have the DI or non-DI engine? If you have the DI, chances are that the ticking noise is coming from the high pressure injectors...

DI. Thanks for the quick reply. Is this something easily resolved and/or under power train warranty?

It’s just the normal sound of the DI Fuel Pulse Dampener (pic below),
not the high pressure fuel pump, fuel injectors, etc...

TIP: If your engine compartment rubber surround seal is loose and
hanging down at the rear of the engine compartment, then ticking
will be louder than normal in the passenger cabin and you’ll need
to restore rubber seal to correct position.

I don't hear it unless I am in my garage.

Other than that, turn up your radio, lol.

JR2008CTS, if you have any lingering questions you would like me to research, please let me know! I'm available via email at Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com. The dealership would indeed need to determine the source of any concern initially before then determining coverage. However, I'm happy to provide your warranty parameters in the meantime if that would be helpful to you. I'm also on hand if you ever would like me to follow up with a dealer on your behalf!

    Best,

    Katie

is the belt a common issue? but if under the warranty maybe not an issue? also I read 08 engine was a little less reliable then the 09 and newer? and a mechanic friend said belts were an issue.
