Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

FYI The GM OEM locking gas caps with the key for the Monte Carlo, Impala, VUE and ect should fit the CTS, It fit my G5GT with no issue's
Havent got around to getting one for my CTS yet to 100% confirm it.
The only thing is you lose the tether for the cap but the fuel door has a spot to hang the cap

    ACD# gt270
    GM # 22720375

Rippy might be able to give you guys more info and price on it.

The locking cap for 2008-2011 (not sure what's different in the 2012+) is ACD#GT264 (GM#25862765)

it fits a ton of other vehicles ... back to about 2005

the GT270 fits 2004 and older cars

    can't really tell the difference
they must be very similar if not the same but with some trivial difference
since the GT270 fits 2003-2004 cts and the GT264 fits 2005-2011 CTS
similarly the 2004 SRX takes a GT270 while the 2005-2009 takes the GT264
other vehicles are split between the two also

Ah ok maybe it was because my G5 GT was designed prior 2004 to its actual model year

Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

i think they're basically the same in fit/function but maybe have a slight difference somewhere that makes them not the same part number

they're technically an accessory so weird things like this can happen

Maybe thickness of the cap or something so the fuel doors can close or something

Could be something as simple as ISO symbols changing or other text/labeling

When I lived In Canada I had gas caps and fuel stolen. I would definitely want this. In Colorado, Utah and Wyoming,no such problem and I would like to eliminate the locking caps on my motorcycle. Definitely an area specific problem. My old Isuzu was nice for Canada with its remote release cover, I am surprised that more luxury cars don't have that.

On my 2013 sedan, there is a place on the flap where the actuator bar goes through and a place where a hole would be in the neck. Just wondering if the 13's have the harness.

Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

I had the dealer check the lot while I was there
And they had numerous 12 and 13 sedans coupes
And wagons and I can tell you none had the harness
So the likeliness of your 13 having it is slim from
How the dealer explained it to me.

The dealer thought I was nuts for checking the others but
They were very nice about it since their customer service
    Is definitely above par.

    ----------

Oh and yes all cars came with the hole in the gas door from my understanding and looking at all of them there's a few parts missing but I was persistent to think if they put the hole there why not but also the plastic shield around the cap is different with a hole too and different part numbet for exports too I have the blowup of the parts list I'm just upset it can't be done but oh we'll the locking cap will have to do for now

Thanks for the updates on the cap part numbers

Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

chris at rippys parts dept is right...you got to be a genious to siphon gas out of the cts ,because of the rollover valve at bottom of filler neck...i've tried and couldn't get the hose far enough in for it to siphon and it had a full tank of gas

Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

yeah the roll-over valve is a safety mandated part in case you wreck and flip over ... don't want gas all over the place

the safety feature doubles as a gas theft prevention device

Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

Thanks for the heads up on that, i didn't realize that it was impossible to siphon, but i do have another concern,
someone sticking something in the tank, not sure if that even goes on anymore, but you never know.

So the locking cap should handle that concern since it would take a lot to get that off...

The part numbers for the locking cap posted are right Rippy???

    Thanks
    Chris

Re: Locking Fuel Door on 2011 CTS?

well... not impossible but not easy like people think it is (because it used to be)

the locking caps now serve as peace of mind and also to keep someone from putting something in your tank (which happened to a friend of mine last year... not cool)

the part numbers that i posted are correct ... the other one that ctschick posted might also work since they fit the same bodystyle cars in earlier years (unless there was some filler tube change that nobody has noticed)

best thing is to stick with the ones that the parts catalog shows for your year rather than take a chance on the other one
