    AlphaTherm heated washer AT-37GM

I recently got a 2009 CTS4 and was curious why the heated washer didn't work. Of course, after doing a little research, I found out about the recall. And the recall had been done to my car.

I also found out about the replacement from AlphaTherm. The costs seemed to range from $70-100.
But when I found one for less than $50 delivered, I decided to get one.
It was delivered in a few days from: US Auto Parts

    http://www.usautoparts.net/catalog/i...1&No=10&Npp=10

    Their part number is REPC371601

It does install very quickly with a couple simple tools. All you really need is a small screw driver to unclip the connectors. It takes about 15-20 minutes. The new washer does not come with the fuse. I got my 60a fuse from O'Reilly's Auto Parts for $5.

I did this too a while back. I love how it gets rid of the bugs on the windshield and is also good for frost. I'm just glad the dealer left the original bracket on...I've heard some day the dealer removed it.

Just ordered myself one from US Auto Parts. Hope I still have the bracket. Found the cut wires and something that could be a bracket. Have not found any cut or disconneted water lines yet, sure they are there somewhere.

Might have to get this. Seems like a pretty good deal.

The bracket is mounted on the inside of the passenger wheeelwell right in front of the firewall. It seems like you have the bracket. Let us know your results!

The water lines will be spliced together from the recall and won't be noticeable. The water line will be on the passenger side tucked up under the lip of the engine compartment. My install also took about 15 - 20 minutes and works great.

Just to make sure my dealer doesn't attempt to do the recall again, I used a metalic colored sharpie and wrote "Aftermarket, Do Not Remove" on the side of the heater.

Went out last night and took a quick look, but this morning I did find the bracket(has two connectors clipped to it) and the water lines were exactly where stated. Marking that thing is a real good idea. That will be did. Thank you guys so much for your help.

I just told my dealer not to remove it for any reason as it is an aftermarket part...one of the service guys even wanted me to show him that it worked again

Is the 60 Amp fuse the normal height version or the stubby type? The auto parts store had two "under hood" 60 Amp fuses of the same width but one was much shorter than the other. Looks like you have the taller one but I want to verify. Thanks

The parts store had both the short and tall version for the same price. I took the tall version because it would easier to install and remove.

Apparently, I'm not the only one still interested in the AlphaTherm heater.

Installed mind today. Every thing went well, far as the installation but the light on the button that tells you the heater is on, does not come on. I can press the button, in about 10 seconds wipers spay water, then goes off after about 5 swipes of the windshield. Not sure yet if water is hot or cold. Lite did work before recall. Guess I will recheck elect connections tomorrow. Any ideas of what the problem may be, and is that the only fuse in that system?

Your DIC will display a message saying something like heated washer wipes pending when you press the button. Does yours?

I am not sure about the light. But as jeffc83 said the DIC does state washer wipes pending. It woeks well for me, no problems so far. Oh, and the bugs come off so much easier with heated windshield fluid

That was one of the main reasons why I purchased the unit! With how he described it, I'm sure it's working fine
