Oil life after timing chain recall?!

About 2-3 weeks ago I have the timing chain recall done of my CTS, and when I had it done my oil life reading was at 95%

I noticed when they were done it was at 100%, so they did not reset it (not a big deal, I change my oil early anyway) HOWEVER, the three weeks went by and the oil life reading is still at 100%

It has not gone down at all. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to be calling the dealer but since I am out of town I will have to wait a few days and thought I would get some opinions on here first.

This is well known issue, do a search.

Anyway, just press the reset button (keep it depressed for a few seconds) and you will see the display turn from 100% to 100%.....i know it sounds funny but it will solve your problems. Basically what has happened the tech performing the recall forgot to reset the OLM. It happened to me (twice!) as well as many board members..........

As a related note on this - I got the oil life monitor recall band aid done on my wife's '09 Acadia and it cut the oil life by more than 50%. It has not been 4K miles and is down to single digits.

My CTS implied Oil Change Interval was consistently 13,000 miles. Then after recall OLM reprogram in April, implied OCI dropped to 5,500 miles during the warm spring and hot summer months. Now with cooler outdoor temperatures from mid-30s to mid-50s, DIC Oil Life Remaining 1% increments are ticking down in as few as 22 miles; and coldest winter weather is still a month or two away.

Hmm...are we the only 2 owners that are aware and bothered by GM's 2007-09 Timing Chain/OLM band-aid ???

Thanks for the quick answer and input.

So when do you guys/gals change the oil? My GM dealer told me to do it at 20% life remaining but I have a friend who uses 50%. No way I will be changing my oil ever 2k miles though if that's the case!

    Sandcracker21,
If you would like to send me your VIN number I can try and look further into this and see what I can find out.

No, you are not. I was one of the first ones to voice a concern....unfortunatelly there is nothing we can do now....but in the future we can vote with our wallet....
