I have an 08' that i purchased back in Feb. At the time the dealer appearantely did an update on the system, by adding my information, but not sure it was actually updated as far as updating the roads ?
My question is this, how do I go about doing a current update to the system, how often do you suggest doing an update, and what is the cost involved .
I just purchased a 2008 CTS4 last week and saw that my nav system was still dated 2007. Go to this website http://www.gmnavdisc.com/ to purchase a DVD that will update your audio system along with your nav maps. The cost is $199.00 and if you order by midnight tonight, there is free shipping. I installed my updates today while driving to work and back and still had to let the car sit idle for 1 hour more to finish the install. The total time to install was around 2 1/2 hours. The good part about this is that you can shut your car off and the install will automatically restart again when you start your vehicle back up.
Thanks for the info, just a question on the audio update and what does it do that that part of the system ?
To be honest, I have no idea what the audio update did to my system. There were 3 separate installs 1. audio update 2. nav system update 3. nav map update.
Besides newer roads and Points of Interest added, the only change I have detected is when you click on the brightness button for the display, you actually see a popup that tells you what mode you are in. I read some posts that say recalculating is faster but I haven't noticed that yet. I have searched to see if there is a list of upgrades that are on the disk but haven't come up with anything. Maybe someone more knowledgable here on the forum will chime in with the details of the upgrade.
Automobile(s): None at the moment. Maybe some day an SRX!
Re: Nav system update
You could try and contact GM Navigation support at 1-877-NAV-DISC (1-877-628-3472). They will be able to provide you with any information you may need. Hope this helps.
