    Coolant change

My CTS is approaching 4 years and 55,000 miles and I was thinking about the coolant change. I know GM recommends 5 years/150,000 miles but I do not want to take any chances. Anybody out there with an advice? Should I do it now?

In my previous cars I would do it every 4 years regardless of milage.

    Thanks

Why not do it now? Give you a little added piece of mind. Just be sure to use orage coolant.

These cars are pretty hard to bleed/ burp all the air out of though. It may take a few trips around the block to get all the air out.

Not a tough job though, and it will give you something to do on a saturday afternoon I suppose.

I'd do it. I just had to have the heater core replaced due to blockage of some sort and apparently this isn't too uncommon. Could be that changing the antifreeze
more frequently would avoid such a problem.

    Thanks guys.

I was thinking taking the car to the dealer but after reading the service manual is does seem like a simple job. So if all goes according to plans I will do it over the weekend.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how hard is it to change out the coolant in an '09 CTS? Anyone know how much the dealer charges for this? My car is just over 5 years old...
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Two things...call your stealership and ask for a price. Second, if you do it yourself, use distilled water.

    Hello Jeff,

I am more than happy to locate your nearby dealership and discuss this with them to determine a possible price. If you would like my assistance, please reach out via private message and include your contact information, a dealer you would work with and your VIN. Thanks!
