2008-2013 Cadillac CTS General Discussion Discussion, 2012 CTS Grille ? Opinions ? in Cadillac CTS Second Generation Forum - 2008-2013; I still think the first gen sport grille beats them all.
I have a 2008 that I bought used. It has chrome slats as pictured in cawengr's post above. Are these chrome slats stock, maybe part of an option package? Or are they an add-on? I thought all CTS's had chrome stats but I now realize that many have black slats.
P.S. I don't mind the look of the 2012 grilles, but I think they look less sporty, and the way the badge sticks out looks cheap to me.

Yes these are "Stick On Slats"
If the Prototype Allen Grille were available I would buy it in a minute. I think it resembles the 07 Performance Grille the best Attachment 81368
There are some reasons the new grille looks the way it does other than "just to make it different".
The most important was that in the pre-2012, the logo was centered in the grille... BUT... In most states, where front license plates are mandatory, the logo would no longer look centered in the grille and it was lost. For 2012, they moved the logo upward and put it on a pedestal... literally... So when the front plate is on, the logo is centered in the exposed grille. Also, with the plate on, the bold vertical lines keep the from plate from breaking up the grille visually.
Also, the headlights, and paint adjacent to the headlights are vertical. The old lines in the grille were horizontal... The new lines are vertical and make the whole nose appear beautifully pronounced and consistent. Just my 2cents. 80-1-440x-11814639.jpg
