The updated antenna has the diplexed cable into 1, instead of the two separates? That makes perfect sense, actually. Thanks for that...

Re: 08 W / Bluetooth and Onstar Mylink App WORKING!

    Latest and final update:

Dealer was unsuccessful at getting the new VCIM coded. After the dealership and Onstar got together on this project, it is believed that had the new VCIM been removed from a donor 2011 vehicle, and not a factory fresh virgin unit, that they would've been more successful. The working theory is that if I wanted FULL Gen9 features, I'd have to have a donor (programmed) VCIM from a 2011, or take my virgin VCIM, swap into a 2011, have it programmed, then swap it back. That would still leave us with the issue of the 3rd connection (GPS). In order to have it all functioning properly, a new Gen9 rooftop (shark fin) antenna would also have to be retrofitted, since it contains the necessary diplexed GPS/Cellular connection that the new VCIM is looking for.

So, if all you want is to add bluetooth to a non-bluetooth vehicle, this will 100% work, but you'll lose your Onstar serivce, if so equipped. You will still be able to use the emergency Onstar button though.

Hope this helps, and I've learned much about this car, how Onstar works, how it's all connected and such, in a very short amount of time.

With all of that said, I now have a Bluetooth VCIM for sale, including the bluetooth antenna thingy. Michael_at_Dell has dibs, but if he decides against it, I can either return it to the seller that I purchased from, or sell it here to a member at a discount. PM me if interested....

Wait, what? I was able to pair both my, and my wife's phone's to that VCIM. But, only one would be active at a time, which is normal. Is that what you're talking about, or you're not even able to pair 2 phones at all? Did you delete my 2 phones off the VCIM? Maybe there's a limit to total amount of phones you can pair with it.

Nah, doesn't work that way. You can pair multiple devices but it's first come, first serve, as to which one is active. All 3 of my cars with bluetooth, operate in the same manner.

Just wondering if anyone that has tried the '11 Onstar9, has tried this part to "combine" the gps and cell signals??

    EL-49903-3

Its a special service tool from GM.

Some info from the description of the tool:

"The next generation of On-Star (Gen9) requires a new adapter EL-49903-3 (diplexer) harness that supports a composite of cell and gPS signals on a single coax input. EL-49903-3 will adapt to the current EL-49903-1 antenna."

I just installed the PN 22739392 out of a 2011. Everything works great. MyLink App - lock, unlock, remote start, diagnostics. Bluetooth too. I don't even have a red onstar light. I might install the EL-49903-3 just so everything is working.(was hoping for feedback on it first) Although I have factory NAV that is still working so don't see a real need to add the onstar GPS. Like others, onstar thinks I'm in a 2011 now. Oh well. Its to their benefit because I would not have paid for the service w/o the MyLink App.

Just bear in mind that without that GPS signal, if you use that emergency button, OnStar won't have a clue where you are.

This is cool but way too complicated. You know how I got bluetooth in my wife's 2008 CTS Premium?

    I traded it for a 2011 Premium.

I also got the backup camera.

but i lost the limited slip...
