Functions include remote start, remote lock and unlock, flashing lights and horn as well as viewing up-to-date diagnostics data from the subscriber's iPhone or Android-powered mobile phone. OnStar hardware is currently only manufactured by LG Electronics as of 2011, although early models were made by Hughes for Gen 1, Delphi, for Gen 2 and Motorola for Gen 4 to Gen 6.

That's about what I said. I was really hoping the remote link would work with the 2010 Premium I'm bringing home this week, until I looked it up on on stars website :-( . Oh well.

    seconding that
if it's possible, somehow, to get a 2008 cts from gen 7 all the way to gen 9, and get it to work with remotelink....
    that'd be pretty damn cool

The reason I ask is I'm not too far from him and have a tech2. If he hasn't gotten it working, it may just need the setup procedure run on it.

No I haven't, I bet it would work if the donor car had Remote Start, I guess it needs it turned on in the VCIM. I'm closer now in O'Fallon

I'm not sure where it gets the remote start capability from. I poked around in my Gen 8.2 VICM and there are no options that you can turn on or off, and there are no different calibration options for a vehicle with or without remote start. I looked at the calibration lists for both a 2011 and 2010 CTS premium, and there are no different calibrations that I can find for remote start vs no remote start. I've read that the BCM hardware was a little different in the 2011's, and it does have different Calibration part numbers between 2010 and 2011, but the RCDLR's, which is what receives and processes the remote start signal from the FOBs, is identical in every way in both the 2010's and 2011's.

In my 2004 truck, I was able to run a setup procedure where it should have identified the modules int he truck. In the CTS, the only options were set language and remote stolen vehicle slowdown clear, so I'm not sure what it would take to get it to work. maybe when connected to the Gen9 VICM some other options would be present in the Tech2... Let me know if you want to get together some time and take a look.

Figured i post to this thread also as it has more followers...

Has anyone that has tried the '11 Onstar9, has tried this part to "combine" the gps and cell signals??

    EL-49903-3

Its a special service tool from GM.

Some info from the description of the tool:

"The next generation of On-Star (Gen9) requires a new adapter EL-49903-3 (diplexer) harness that supports a composite of cell and gPS signals on a single coax input. EL-49903-3 will adapt to the current EL-49903-1 antenna."

    Thanks

The one I bought did not work. The prongs on the 2 plugs that went into the box were slightly different. They would not lock in. I had to return the unit. I bought one for 200.00 on ebay. Its from a 09 CTS made in September on 09. I plan to take it in on November 12th to get the car reprogrammed. Does anyone know how long it should take?? Dealer says they have no idea but its $120.00 an hour

If anyone is looking for a 11 VCIM, I have one for sale. Never got around to installing it on my 08. Since I'm selling it now, I figure I should see if someone on here is looking for one first. Posted it in the classifieds, and was asking $200 with the antennae, but I'll take offers!
