Re: 2008 CTS Navigation Disc Update

Hey, can anyone tell me, if I did an update disc and got some additional features and buttons, do I need any of the other pay discs (gracenote or map disc) in order to get any new features? Do they just update the gracenote music databse (idc about) and the map roads and POIs or do they also add new features? I'm hoping not to have to spend money on updating databases but I would want to know if I'm missing out on new features altogether. I know the disc images have been uploaded for the update discs (which I think is free anyway) and that's the one I used. Thanks for any help!

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation Disc Update

I received an update disc in '12 for an '08 CTS that I purchased out of a lease. I put the disc in the CD player, followed the prompts then pfft.
I read of others having problems updating a NAV disk. When I initiated the update it looked as if my NAV system malfunctioned.
Basically I left it in the CD player overnight (car and all systems were NOT left running of course).
The next morning the NAV system re-initiated and has worked ever since.
The short answer overnight (i.e. 9 hours).
