For the CTS's sold without a spare, we have the GM spare kit. it includes wheel, tire, jack and hold down hardware. cost is $215.00 plus a few dollars shipping. Give me a call to get one on order.
When you factor in the "few dollars" shipping cost, depending on your location, it's probably still cheaper to simply order it as an option from your local dealer. Even better if you do it at the time you order the vehicle. The cost savings of this offer sound like a wash, at best, to me.
Mine did too...at first. Although he didn't even know about the kit before I gave him the part # that I got from Luke ( thanks Luke !!). I explained about the info I received from this forum, and the fact that another dealer was helping out their new owners with discounts. He agreed to sell the kit to me for $215. He even had 1 in stock and didn't know it!!
Well, there's always the case that you totally obliterate the tire, etc. and using the air supplied isn't exactly going to work. At least not like an actual A-ok dummy tire to throw on would be.
Yes, you are right.
Actually, my CTS came with a spare tire but I bought extra four 18" rims and tires because it was easier to get four than just one. And now I want to get original air pump. I have to stop....
Why would they not put a spare tire in a car that does not use run flats? I realize they are concerned about weight, but... If you shred a tire on road debris, good luck with the inflation kit.
Since I cross the Mojave Desert every few months I've read many post :hmm: in regards to Spare v. Inflator and finally gave Lindsay Cadillac a call. Spoke with Luke and he said they still had some in stock at the same price and they shipped me the complete kit (p/n 19179359). I'll feel better come the hot summer months knowing if hit something big and bend a wheel I'll be able to continue. . . . . . Add ZAA to my RPO list. . .
I was afraid off having a blow out with only an air compressor and sealer. I didn't want to have to buy a tire in the middle of nowhere in order to get where I am going. It's just peace of mind.
My car came with a spare that was already inflated, so I doubt I would need the compressor and sealant unless I wanted to let the air out and inflate it again.
A full size tire/wheel will fit but not in the spare tire well. I believe that is why a tie down strap is included- to secure the full size tire while riding on the spare.
Wish I had seen this before! I got stranded with a cut side wall last night, no spare. Onstar was great, thanks for the tow and cab. Could have handled it myself since i was in town, but Onstar made it very easy. If I have been out in the middle of nowhere (like I was the previous day) Onstar help would have been more huh...great.
I found some spare used wheels and tires and just got those, but I still need a jack etc. Is there a good price/options on those? I have a portable floor jack but it is a bit bulky to keep in car all the time.
