    AWD service warning

I just picked up an AWD CTS last night. The service AWD warning came on after about 20 miles. I stopped the car, turned if off and restarted it. The indicator immediately came back on. Called Onstar and had them run a diagnostic which did not show any problems. Drove the remaining 15 miles to work. Restarted the car again same thing. Restarted it again after it sat for 5 minutes and it cleared. I have not driven again.

Has anyone else had this problem, if so what was done to fix it?
I will call the dealer when it opens.

It sounds like a sensor issue to me. Take it in to the Dealer and have the codes read- they'll know how to proceed from there.

Sorry to hear about the troubles, and please let us know what they find.

Yes, mine had that. GM didn't even have the error code in the books for the techs to look at so they had to play phone tag with the engineers. When you take it in, have them hook up a Tech 2 and check for codes. If yours pulls up a C0401 then that is the same issue I had. My problem was a bent pin on a temp sensor.

So can we assume it was an easy fix?

    Sensor pin?

Mine was. They straightened out the pin and it starting reading like it should. I have had the car back for 4 days now and no AWD service light yet.

Took the car in this AM. Same error code as described earlier.
The AWD transfer case temp sensor conector was not fully seated.
I have not driven the car long enough to test but this should do it.
Told the sales mamager ang the service manager about this thread and thy said they would pass it up the GM chain of command.

The joys of a first year car. Hopefully the issues stay minor like this one.
