It's not like I have a huge sum of money put into this. A $500 check that the dealer is just sitting on. If I were to walk away from it they would probably even return my check. They have 2 others identical to it on order for the dealership. They don't think they will sit around very long. Besides, it is highly unlikely I will walk away from it. I expect it to be a significant improvement from the 04 CTS we own.

    Attention: MJDART
Your posting of a huge photo of a non-'08 CTS in this thread was, well, "irrational" (Ok, I'm being kind). And besides that.. this entire page of the thread has been messed up horizontally because of it (at least on my computer it is). MJDART, you are hereby banished to the Neutral Zone! (until you redeem yourself).

On more important matters... our good friend in Missouri (gm_eng) has advised that the issue with option B20 (wood trim for steering wheel & shift knob) will not be sorted out at the factory until late September / early October. On hearing this today, I immediately contacted my dealer and instructed them to cancel option B20 on my order.
With any luck my '08 CTS will be delivered by the time I get back from North Africa (on the 20th of September). Ahh, the joys of ordering a new car.
    Enjoy the weekend all.
    Rab.

My dealer already has instructions to NOT mount the front plate holder. Furthermore, I told them that if they did I would not accept delivery.

    RAB,

Not sure if this helps, but I saw a '08 SRX at my dealer a month ago. It had the optional Sappele wood n the dash, console and doors, but it was not on the steering wheel.
There was a $100 credit on the window sticker.

IMO opinion the regular leather wheel looks better and is more sporting than the one with wood on top.
Reminds me of the ultra thick rimmed BMW steering wheels.
The wood wheel is kind of old school now, more reminiscent of a Lexus than
    something sporty like a CTS.

    b4z,
Thank you for your post. You know, I believe you're right. And your reference to Lexus is a good one.
Looking at the photos once again (I have printed them out on premium 8.5 x 11" photo paper), the regular leather wheel does look more sporting than the wheel with wood on top. The same probably goes for the shift knob.
I should have deleted option B20 on my order a few weeks ago when I first heard about the issue of B20 holding up the production of my car. As it now stands, I will probably have to wait 5-6 more weeks for my car to be built & delivered. But better late than never.

On the 2008 CTS, option B20 is $150 MSRP. If mine arrives without it, I'll be looking for the $150 credit, plus some comp (like a couple of free oil changes)for the aggravation.

    Zymurgy,

When your '08 CTS arrives - should it be found option B20 wasn't applied at the factory - you may find that the invoice will already show a $150 credit to 'address' the issue.
As far as the aggravation factor is concerned.. (and this issue is certainly an aggravation for me, with my car now delayed for an additional 4-6 weeks).. I won't be asking for free oil changes (the engine oil is synthetic on this car, and oil changes will be few & far between)... Rather, on receiving my car, if I decide the B20 option would have made a big difference for me in the desired appearance of the interior, I will look for a replacement B20-type steering wheel & shift knob to be ordered & provided to me at dealer cost pricing, along with free labor to cover the installation.

    Re: Another 08 CTS Built

Well, there really is some conflicting information floating around concerning the availability of option B20 (Wood trim on steering wheel and shift knob). According to a source in the Lansing plant, it will not be available until late Aug/Sept. Yet, there is a photo of a CTS at a dealer waiting for export that has B20 in it (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...s-inside.html) - 5th photo, reproduced here.

Guess the only way I'll know for sure is when my car arrives.
